The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 638

Victoria stood out effortlessly, her unique French-Chinese heritage giving her eyes a captivating shade of gray. With a warm smile, she suggested, "If you're free, let's grab dinner tonight."

Allison nodded eagerly. "Sounds great."

Valeria stood up, trying to make her presence known. "Ms. Victoria, I'm Valeria. We met at a gala some time ago."

Victoria gave Valeria a quick, indifferent look. "Sorry, I attend so many events. But I'm looking forward to seeing your performance."

Her brief, polite dismissal stung as she moved past Valeria to greet Wade, her longtime collaborator. They shared a warm hug, and Wade, ever the charmer, kissed the back of her hand. "We've all been waiting for you. You're the star of the show."

Victoria introduced herself with a quick smile and took a seat.

Valeria, however, was left hanging, her outstretched hand now awkwardly frozen mid-air. She knew Victoria was a big name in screenwriting, but to be so blatantly ignored while Victoria cozied up to scandal-ridden Allison...

Her pride took a serious hit.

Tiffany, noticing the change in Valeria's demeanor, understood the industry's ruthless hierarchy all too well. The producers were clearly backing Allison. Despite being a newcomer with few credits, Allison was the lead. Their roles were just there to make her shine.

Tiffany felt a pang of regret. Had she backed the wrong horse? She should have tried to get closer to Allison instead of giving that bracelet to Valeria. Experience was valuable, but Allison was the star.

After a long day of script readings, Allison stretched her neck and packed her notebook. She nodded to the producers and the director, ready to leave.

Victoria caught her eye. "Aaron, Allison, join Director Xie and me for dinner. It's my first time in Silvertown, and I've heard the food here is amazing."

Aaron agreed right away, and after a brief hesitation, so did Allison.

Valeria bit her tongue, realizing she was on the outside looking in. Back in her hotel room, she hurled her teacup against the wall in frustration. Her agent, Sandy, rushed in to calm her down. "What are you doing?"

"Can't you see?" Valeria fumed. "Victoria can't get enough of Allison. What's Allison got? Scandals, controversy, just a sugar daddy backing her! 'Fragments of Truth' is just a vehicle for Allison, and we're just the backdrop. I thought Wade and Victoria were above it all, but they're bending over backward for money. Did you see how cozy Victoria was with Allison? It's sickening!"

"Keep your voice down," Sandy hissed. "The walls here are thin. You don't want the wrong people overhearing."

"So what if they do? I might as well quit!"

Sandy frowned. "Don't be rash. Do you have any idea how many actors would kill for a role in a Wade-directed, Victoria-scripted film? Your rival Autumn auditioned too, and you won out. This movie's going to be huge. I've already lined up magazine spreads and endorsements because of it."
