The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 659

The shoot had been going on for a month. One Saturday morning, Allison's phone rang.

"Hey Allison, it's Charlie. I was hoping we could have a heart-to-heart," Charlie's voice came through the line.

Normally, Allison would have flat-out refused. She and Charlie had nothing to discuss; they were like oil and water. But this time, she agreed.

"I’ve got a magazine shoot this morning, but I’m free in the afternoon. If you want to talk, come to Silvertown." She didn’t elaborate before hanging up, confident that if Charlie was serious about talking, he'd have no trouble finding out which hotel she was at. With his extensive connections, it was a piece of cake.

Saturday morning rolled around, and Allison's day was packed with shoots. She wasn't the top-tier celebrity, but after a few scandals thrust her into the limelight, her fame had skyrocketed. She was the type whose every sip of water could trend online. With all the free publicity, numerous shows were courting her. Aside from fitting the bill with her image and poise, there was the backing of Epic Entertainment, but most were after her trending factor.

Allison was particularly keen on acing her role in "Fragments of Truth." Maintaining the quality of the production was crucial, so she made sure to get enough sleep every night. Only with proper rest could she ensure her best performance and skin condition the next day. That’s why she never pulled all-nighters for magazine shoots or business endorsements. Lack of sleep would leave her with a slightly puffy face the next day, not a good look on camera, and her energy levels would be down.

But with numerous business endorsements and magazine shoots knocking at her door, while Allison had fans, most were there for her looks or the high-profile projects she was linked with. Her die-hard following was modest, as she had yet to deliver a signature performance. Though she was always on set, none of her projects had aired yet. She never treated her fans like cash cows. When signing endorsement deals, she steered clear of exploitative practices.

Her Saturday started at 8 am with makeup, followed by shooting at 9 am, wrapping up only at 1 pm. From 1 to 2:30 pm, she was booked for a magazine interview. Allison was shooting the cover for a well-known, if not top-tier, magazine called "Southern Breeze." Emma, her manager, had skimmed through the interview questions in advance. They seemed reasonable, with a few about Penelope, but nothing out of line. She handed them to Allison, who gave a nod after a quick glance.

With the interview questions under control, the interview began. When the topic of Penelope came up, the host asked, "Lately, we’ve seen a lot of buzz online about Penelope taking care of your mother. The public is quite curious about how you two met. It’s said your mother has been unwell, and she’s been helping out, making you two seem like the closest of friends. But there seem to have been some conflicts in the past?"

Allison replied, "Penelope and I grew up together; we've known each other for ten years. It's normal for friends to have disagreements, right? No one can claim they've always been in perfect harmony with their pals. We had our issues, but we've worked through them."

"I remember a few months ago, there were some unbelievable rumors about you. They turned out to be just that—rumors, and it's all resolved now. I wanted to ask, facing such adversity, how did you feel at the time?"
