Tranquil Bay Park was a secluded gem tucked away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Except for weekends and public holidays, it was rarely crowded.
Skyler arrived at the island in the middle of the lake by boat and took a seat in the gazebo, waiting for his brother.
Whether Geoffrey would show up this time was anybody's guess.
Across the lake, a lanky figure appeared, his face hidden behind a baseball cap and a face mask.
A few minutes by boat later, he arrived at the island. Skyler's gaze was locked on him the entire time, noting the similarity in stature to Geoffrey.
The man walked onto the island and sat down across from him. He removed his mask, revealing a face almost identical to Skyler's.
"Skyler, it's been a while," he said.
Skyler's eyes were wide and unblinking as he stared. "Let's not jump to conclusions. How do I know you're Geoffrey?"
"Who else could be your spitting image?" the man retorted.
Skyler picked up a case next to him, placed it on the table, and pulled out a device.
"This is my lie detector, the Eye of Truth. You'll have to pass its test to prove you're not lying."
A muscle twitched on the man's face. So, this was the legendary Eye of Truth.
"As if some gadget could outsmart me."
"This is the world's most advanced portable lie detector. There's not a single lie that can escape its scrutiny," Skyler said with a cunning smile. "You're not afraid to test it, are you?"
The man snorted. "What do I have to fear?"
"Then place your hand on the table, and let me set up the device," Skyler instructed.
The man slowly extended his hand from his pocket, secretly clutching a tiny vial.
As Skyler was distracted, he sprayed the contents toward Skyler's face.
