Taylor was puzzled. “Since you are dealing with the problem in Terranova, why don’t you just use it as an opportunity to get rid of James and take control?”
Christopher shook his head slightly. “Lance is an extremely wary person. If I act too eager now, he’ll think I have hidden agendas. But if I take a step back and let James take charge, he will think that I am prudent, considerate, and focused on the bigger picture.”
Taylor asked, “But what if... James manages to resolve this matter?”
“Do you think I would let him off that easily?” Christopher crossed his legs elegantly as he swirled the wine in his glass. A sinister smile played on his lips as he exuded a cunning aura.
“Since the Thompson family has already escalated this matter, I might as well add fuel to the fire to make it burn even hotter and completely out of control. You should contact our forces in Terranova and have them find an opportunity to visit the hospital where the injured are being treated. You know what to do, right?”
Taylor suddenly understood and nodded vigorously. “Yes, I understand.”
Yvonne’s hand trembled as she massaged Christopher’s shoulders.
She knew that another murder was about to happen. The thought of innocent civilians dying in vain just because of the power struggles of these capitalists made her feel suffocated, even causing a strong wave of nausea to surge from her chest.
“If I want to take over, the key is that James has to completely fail. Otherwise, Lance will never fully let go of him. Do you understand?”
Taylor looked at him with admiration. “Mr. Iverson, you’re just one step away.”
“Yes, just one step away.”
