Ryan’s dark, phoenix-like eyes locked onto Liam’s malevolent expression, an undercurrent of dark aura flickering in his sharp gaze.
The sheer intensity of Ryan’s gaze was intimidating.
Suddenly, Liam felt as if he were choking. His heart tightened in fear.
But then he reminded himself that he had no reason to fear this young man. After all, he was Logan’s only surviving son and an uncle to Ryan.
Liam was determined to go against Ryan at all costs.
After a brief contemplation, Logan spoke in a deep voice. “Liam, Ryan has proven himself over a long period, both in reputation and business sense. He is undoubtedly the best candidate for the group’s next CEO. You need a reason to oppose this decision.”
Standing tall and defiant, Liam shot Ryan a malicious glance before turning to Logan.
“Father.”
“Use titles in the boardroom,” Logan snapped. He had always disliked Liam’s flippant demeanor. Liam was so unlike Ryan’s father, Logan’s late son.
“Chairman Hoffman,” Liam reluctantly corrected himself. “By appointing Ryan as the CEO, you’re essentially naming him the future head of the Hoffman family, right?”
Logan nodded.
“Given that, Ryan’s status is incredibly significant.”
Liam aimed to undermine Ryan while appearing to praise him. “Ryan wouldn’t just be the CEO of the Hoffman Group. As your only grandson, he’s the future of our entire family. This is akin to naming a crown prince!”
“What exactly are you getting at?” Unaware of his uncle’s ulterior motives, Ryan stared at him with growing intensity.
“All I want to say is that every move you make affects the Hoffman Group’s reputation, and your marriage is especially crucial to our family’s future.”
