Rachel chanced a glance at Matthew in confusion. "Why aren't you getting out?"
Just then, she heard someone knocking on her window. She turned around, only to find Tessa coming into view. Her expression immediately hardened.
Winding down the window, she glared at Tessa and questioned, "Are you looking for Matthew? He's working right now. Find him after he gets off work."
Frankly, Rachel disliked Tessa. She abandoned her child and her husband who went to prison in her stead. She was already ruthless to her husband and child, so Rachel knew she must've treated her acquaintances or friends even worse.
The last thing she'd want was to be involved with Tessa.
Tessa shot a vicious look at Matthew before turning to Rachel.
"I'm here for you. We're both women, so we should understand each other best. I have to tell you something, so you won't be deceived by him."
Deceived by Matthew? Rachel recalled the time she met him until now, only to realize that he hadn't lied to her at all. Instead, she actually owed him a lot of favors.
Matthew cured Fred, resolved the medication incident, and even successfully aided her in securing the deal with Shane.
She merely gave him 20 thousand dollars in return, which made him extremely happy.
Rachel shook her head. "He hasn't deceived me at all. I trust my own judgment well enough to not need any pointers from you."
Tessa looked sheepish. Rachel's retort hit home, but she had no choice but to endure it and continue, "I think you might be clueless—I'm actually talking about money. A huge sum of money, in fact. Are you sure you don't want to know about it?"
Rachel shook her head. She'd just given Matthew 20 thousand dollars. With her reign over a company that was worth a few hundred billion dollars, 20 thousand dollars was insignificant to her.
Nonchalantly, she replied, "Calling 20 thousand dollars a huge sum is quite far-fetched."
20 thousand dollars?
