Tessa felt it was a bit too imposing to finish her sentence, so she stopped mid-way.
The man before her had a frightening temperament, as if a single wrong word from her would turn him into a beast that would tear her apart.
Matthew's image involuntarily flashed in her mind.
Ever since she left him, she felt like every man she met was a scumbag.
Randall Young, upon learning of Matthew's unusual status, had abandoned Tessa in fear. Whenever she needed to borrow money, Randall was unreachable. He had no sense of responsibility.
The more she thought about it, the more she realized how good Matthew was. He would give her his earnings to spend. He cared for her, loved her, and spoiled her.
She now regretted it, but it was too late to go back.
Jeffrey saw Tessa's hesitation to speak and said, "I know your company is facing financial issues. As long as you help me with something, I can place a few orders with you so your business has a chance to revive."
Tessa nodded repeatedly. "Whatever you need me to do, I'll do it."
Jeffrey said coldly, "Invite Matthew to Rose Bar. Leave the rest to me."
Tessa understood Jeffrey's intention. He planned to deal with Matthew directly.
Thinking of how Matthew refused to help her despite being so wealthy, Tessa couldn't help but feel a deep hatred toward him.
"Alright, I promise to invite him to Rose Bar. Mr. Smith, you're a busy man, and it's hard to meet you in person. Can I perhaps treat you to a meal?"
Jeffrey sensed a different meaning behind her words. His eyes wandered across Tessa's body. He noted her good figure and attractive looks. She was quite charming indeed—but she paled in comparison to Rachel.
Instantly, he lost interest. "There's nothing more to say. You can go now. Remember to do what I asked."
Tessa's face fell slightly, but she didn't retort.
She hurriedly left and went to do as she was told.
…
Matthew had just arrived at Wealthwave Group when he received a call from an unknown number.
He answered, "Who is this?"
A familiar voice came from the other end. "Matthew, it's me."
