"I thought you were no match for Jeffrey, but he was killed by you in an instant. I thought you were a lowly ex-convict, unworthy of me, a beautiful president of my own company.
"But… after the divorce, I became nothing. And you… I can't even measure up to you anymore!"
A trace of emotion flickered across Matthew's cold face, but it faded as quickly as it came.
He said coldly, "You realizing your mistake has nothing to do with me. When you make mistakes, you have to pay the price."
Tessa nodded. "Yes, I have to pay the price. Do whatever you want to me. I have no complaints. Just don't kill me, please. I don't want to die. For Lorraine's sake, don't kill me!"
At the mention of Lorraine, Matthew's ice-cold face softened. He clenched his teeth and threw the knife on the ground. "Get out!"
Tessa shuddered in fright, then scrambled to her feet and ran away without even taking her bag.
Rose seemed to have found Matthew's weakness. She said with a smile, "So, you're divorced. Do you need a woman? I can be of service."
As she spoke, she stepped closer to him. Her sexy body was practically pressing against Matthew.
Her pretty face was so close to his that a slight lurch forward could result in a kiss.
Matthew could feel Rose's warm breath, and he could smell the faint scent of her lipstick.
Was she trying to seduce him?
Matthew reached out and grabbed Rose's breasts. "Not bad, they're quite full. But you should get to work and clean up this place first."
Rose shivered, her voice now much gentler than before. "Okay, I'll have someone clean up right away."
She made a call, and two people came in to put the corpses in body bags to dispose of before thoroughly bleaching the room.
Then, they left.
