"Why won't you consider a third possibility?" Brandon said in a calm, even tone.
Martin frowned, "A third possibility?"
He was momentarily stumped, trying to wrap his head around what Brandon meant.
"Have you ever considered that maybe she's using the real Yolanda's hair?" Brandon's voice took on a chill.
Brandon didn't bother with further conversation, he just hung up on him and raced home as fast as he could.
Theresa was still crying, her voice hoarse from tears, and it wasn't until Brandon scooped her up that her crying quieted down somewhat. Clinging tightly around Brandon's neck, she hiccupped and called him "Daddy", her voice laced with a fresh wave of distress, ready to burst into tears again.
Brandon, with a heart full of ache, softly stroked her hair and comforted her, "Daddy's here."
"Mummy doesn't want me anymore," Theresa sobbed to Brandon.
"No, sweetie, that isn’t true. She's just gone to work and she'll be back tomorrow. Don't worry, okay?"
Brandon patiently soothed her with a gentle voice while lightly brushing her long hair. Theresa seemed somewhat calmed by Brandon's reassurance, and with eyes still swollen and teary, she looked at him with half-belief and asked, "Really?"
Brandon gave her a smile, "Of course. When have I ever lied to you?"
Theresa hesitated and shook her head, her sobs subsiding but still occasionally catching in her throat, though not as heart-wrenching as before.
Seeing Theresa's emotions stabilize a bit, Grace couldn't help but mention to Brandon, "Theresa has hardly eaten anything today."
Brandon looked at her and said, "Go get her something she likes to eat, and I'll feed her."
