Kathleen was at a complete loss.
She was sure she made no enemies during her entire stay in Aurous Hill. Besides, she kept her identity a tight secret.
If Julian was indeed murdered or kidnapped, that meant the enemy's strength must be beyond her imagination. How could she offend such a powerful person?
A possibility suddenly came to her mind She looked up at Charlie and quietly thought to herself, ‘Could it be Charlie?!’
She turned to see Charlie’s sincere look and immediately discarded that possibility. She couldn't help but think to herself, ’How could it be Charlie? He's a nice person. There's just no reason for him t o target me...’ 'Plus, he’s too young. How can he be stronger than Mr. Larson?’
'He's been with me during the whole dinner, except for the time he went out to answer a call. How did he deal with Mr. Larson in such a short time without making any noise? If he did have such strength, he’d be practically undefeatable!'
Kathleen thought and thought, and finally ruled out Charlie as an object of suspicion.
She said earnestly, "Mr. Wade, I'm still new to the city. I didn't do anything outrageous a t all. I don’t remember offending anyone!"
Charlie nodded and said solemnly, "I've guessed as much. You're such a well-educated and sensible woman, Ms. Jane. How could you possibly offend anyone?"
Charlie then guessed, "Perhaps, your driver may have offended someone without knowing it? Perhaps he has some enemies here. They might have seen him in Aurous Hill and decided to come for him!"
Kathleen shook her head. "Mr. Larson has been serving my family for a few years. As far as I know, he hasn't gone back to his country in twenty years. It's unlikely for him to have any enemies here."
Charlie smacked his lips and frowned. “ Then, that's really strange..."
