The substitute bride is a mute novel Chapter 16

Jenna, on the other hand, was admiring her fresh manicure. She had her phone wedged between her shoulder and her jaw. "Mdm. Hebert?"

"It's me, Jenna. I have something to talk to you about."

She straightened herself and said, "Go ahead, Mdm. Hebert."

After the conversation ended, Jenna hung up the phone and stared blankly at the floor.

Matthew returned from the office and paced in front of her for a bit. "What's wrong with you, Jen?"

She snapped out of her trance and immediately grabbed onto his arm.

"Dad!" She exclaimed. "You have to help me with what I told you about last time!"

The man froze before furrowing his brows. "Stop messing around! I still have a use for Judy in the Reid family. Do not mess things up."

Jenna was evidently dissatisfied.

"Dad, if I could get both men to like me, that could help you just as much. Why must you count on that mute, Judy? What can she do?"

Matthew adored Jenna, but he was also aware of how stubborn she was. "Alright, Jen. You just need to get Dominic's affection. The best thing you could do is get him to listen to your every beck and call.

"That'll make my plans run smoother. Don't worry about everything else. People like Clark Reid are devoid of emotion, you're better off staying away from him," he warned.

The woman shook her head. "No, no, no, you've got it all wrong. Clark treats me so well. He likes me, and I'm confident that I can make him fall in love with me. As for Dominic, he'll end up being mine eventually too."

She continued, "So just do me this favor, dad. Get Judy out of the Reid family manor, then my plan would be half-way there. Please, dad!"

No matter how much he adored her, he didn't want to watch her do anything absurd.

"Alright, that's enough. I won't help you with this no matter what. You should give up on any ideas about Clark as soon as possible—I won't let him get away with what he did, let alone let you crush on him.”

Unsatisfied by her failure to convince him, she glared at his departing figure angrily.

Not even her father could stop her if she was adamant about something.

"I'm going to marry Clark Reid no matter what!" She declared. "He should've been my man in the first place. Judy is just hogging what's mine!"
