Kingsley was perspiring profusely at the suggestion because he had dinner with Alice last night.
It would blow his cover if Victoria introduced him to Alice.
I can't dwell on this conversation. Thus, he glanced at his watch. "Victoria, I have to go. I have things to do."
"All right. You go ahead." Victoria nodded. "I plan to go shopping later anyway. See you."
Desperate to get out of there, he paid her words no mind and simply bid her farewell before leaving.
After he left, Xaria finally walked out of the kitchen and approached Victoria with a smile on her face. "Miss, that's a nice suit. Where did you get it? I'd like to have one too. Your choice of lipstick color is also marvelous. I'm happy to find us having similar tastes in fashion."
Xaria, or her code name Stork, was a clever woman. She tactfully approached Victoria by starting a conversation based on women's shared interest in fashion and cosmetics.
As a figure in the underworld, Victoria was indeed straightforward and generous. Her character was hinted at in her answer. "I bought them from the shopping mall in the north of the city. It's not a well-known brand, but its products are top quality."
"For real?" Xaria took a seat next to her and feigned enthusiasm. "Can you show me the way? I'm from out of town, so I don't know the way around here."
Victoria nodded and agreed, "Of course, I'm just about to go shopping. You can join me if you're free."
She saw no point in rejecting a simple request as she grew up around a bunch of easy-going men.
Therefore, the pair soon became friends as Xaria approached Victoria on purpose.
After Kingsley left Thinking Cup Coffee, he drove back to Reene's villa.
A well-groomed Reene was waiting for him on the couch.
Once he stepped inside the house, she walked over to him with a smile. "Have you eaten lunch? Do you want to take a break? We can go to—"
