Reene's determination shone in her eyes as she explained, "To establish my presence in the business world, I must shed my indiscriminate kindness and principles. Otherwise, I'll be defenseless against cunning businessmen and those who wish to harm me and my loved ones."
Then, she turned to look at Kingsley with a soft gaze. "Just like how you repeatedly spared the Wynn Family in consideration of my feelings previously. From now on, I assure you that I won't burden you like that again. Those who do wrong must face the consequences!"
Kingsley was taken aback by her words. "Reene, I never expected this ordeal to lead to such profound understanding on your part…"
"Every cloud has a silver lining," Reene said, pursing her lips. A sudden blush appeared on her cheeks. "And there's more. I've realized something else…"
She had been uncertain about her feelings toward Kingsley since the ambiguous embrace from the day before. Up until then, she was still unsure whether it was a sibling bond or something more romantic. However, when she thought her life was about to end just moments ago, Kingsley was the only person on her mind at the time. Right then, she knew he meant more to her than just a younger brother.
However, unaware of Reene's emotional shift, Kingsley inquired with curiosity, "Reene, what else have you come to understand?"
"I—" Reene began to speak, but Kenny, who stood nearby, coughed and interjected, "Ahem. Boss Nicholson, Cleo is finished over there…"
He was rendered speechless as well as he witnessed the scene. While Mia's piercing screams fill the air, and the thugs around her are so terrified that they involuntarily relieve themselves, Kingsley seems unaffected and still manages to exchange affectionate glances with his sister. He's truly something else!
She also realized the inappropriateness of the situation and quickly averted her gaze while her cheeks flushing crimson. "Yes, let's quickly deal with them."
Observing his sister's blushing face, Kingsley had a hunch about what she wanted to express. He shot a glare at Kenny, then shifted his gaze toward Mia.
