"What do you mean 'he's not coming back'?" Jonah asked, puzzled. "Is he afraid of coming back because he fears that I will hold him accountable for failing to protect Kendall?"
"It's not that, sir…" Ronan scratched his head. "The police said this is a significant case, and none of them, including Mickey, can be released. They might have to stay in there for a while…"
"This…" Jonah gasped in shock. "Could Boss Jarett not even bail them out?"
Ronan nodded in response. "Mr. Radcliff said Boss Jarett personally called Chief Moss, but he insisted on not releasing anyone. In the end, after much persuasion, Boss Jarett reluctantly gave in and only managed to get permission to bail one person out."
At that, Jonah cursed under his breath, "Motherf*cker! Boss Jarett must've chosen to bail the leader of the Ivory Fang Sect then!"
"That's right," Ronan confirmed. "The police said Mickey has a history of offenses, and no one can get him out. If you want to see him again, it might take more than a decade..."
Boom!
Jonah booted a vase on the floor and thundered, "Bullsh*t! More than a decade?! I can't wait for even a minute! I want to know Ken's whereabouts immediately! Nicholson's methods are beyond ruthless! For every minute we delay, Ken will suffer even more torture!"
"But Master Lawson, there's really nothing we can do…" Ronan said bitterly. "Not even Boss Jarett could have his way…"
Jonah paced a few steps grimly and ordered, "Contact Albert Radcliff immediately; I want to meet with Boss Jarett personally!"
"But…" Ronan hesitated. "Master Lawson, as you just mentioned, Boss Jarett is cautious and rarely answers calls from outsiders, let alone meeting them in person. Besides, it's quite late now…"
Jonah took large strides forward, grabbed Ronan by the collar, and growled through gnashed teeth, "I don't care! My son's life is at stake! I must discuss this with Boss Jarett face-to-face! Moreover, with so many people from the Cole Gang in the hands of the police, do you think he's not anxious? He will definitely see me!"
