Wesley was shocked but he nodded subconsciously.
Of course he wanted her, he had fallen in love with her the moment he laid his eyes on her. He was so in love that he was even willing to wait for her for two years.
Yvonne froze as well. She couldn't tell Zachary's intention.
Zachary's eyes turned cold and stern as he said, "You can't afford to."
His voice wasn't loud, but it was icy enough to freeze someone entirely.
Yvonne remained silent, but she sighed in relief internally.
She was scared to death at the thought that Zachary might throw her to Wesley.
Wesley's brows furrowed tightly, "But Yvonne's grandmother has betrothed her to me. She said that I'm the grandson-in-law she approves of."
"Grandson- in- law?" Zachary sneered, "You sure think highly of yourself."
Wesley stared at him in shock, then he turned to look at Yvonne.
"Yvonne, say something."
"She is my lover, and I'm still not done with her. So wait if you have the patience." Zachary grabbed Yvonne's hand and walked away as soon as he was done talking.
Yvonne's heart ached at his words.
His lover.
That's right.
Wasn't that the truth?
Why should she be upset? She was the one who agreed to it.
She suddenly smiled and looked at how tightly he held her hand, "Sorry, I didn't expect this to happen."
Zachary did not say anything and merely looked at her coldly.
The atmosphere began to feel a little strange.
Yvonne didn't dare say anything else.
Even after they sat in the private room, ordered the dishes, and had the dishes serve to them, she still remained silent.
The room was filled with silence for a long time as none of them spoke.
After all the dishes were served, Zachary said,
"Let's eat!"
Yvonne suddenly raised her head and looked into his eyes, "Huh?"
Zachary looked into her eyes and his gaze became darker, "Weren't you hungry? You can eat now."
Yvonne was startled. She looked at the table full of dishes and then at Zachary. She then realized that his mood had improved.
At least, he was not as gloomy as she thought.
She looked at Zachary with embarrassment in her eyes and attempted to explain, "What happened with Wesley just now was really an accident. I really had no clue that would happen."
"You don't have to explain anything to me," Zachary said indifferently.
Yvonne froze and felt her heart tightened again.
She took a deep breath and sighed.
Zachary's voice sounded again, "You are just my lover, but I'm warning you, you aren't allowed to have such contact with any men during your time with me. If you get caught, you'll know what will happen."
"No, no," Yvonne quickly waved her hand and said, "Don't worry, I don't have any relationships with any other men except you. You can rest assured."
She sounded anxious and wanted to explain clearly.
Zachary, who had lowered his eyes, suddenly looked up.
Their eyes met. For a moment, Yvonne saw that his eyes seemed to have brightened a little with a hint of a smile.
"Mm, that better be the case," he said nonchalantly, "I don't like to deal with rubbish."
"I know," Yvonne responded quickly and added in her own heart, "Me too."
Zachary glanced at her and said coldly, "Let's eat."
"Yeah, let's eat," Yvonne hurriedly lowered her head and started eating.
She was closed to starving to death.
Zachary, on the other hand, did not rush to eat. He merely stared at the woman wolfing down the food and thought of the distant past.
Even after seven years, she still ate the same way.
She was like this even back in school. Food was always irresistible for her.
