"Achoo!" Yvonne sneezed again, and her face turned paler.
Zachary frowned. He noticed how skinny she was. This woman looked a lot thinner than before, and after standing under such heavy rain, she looked extremely sluggish. Overall, she didn't look well.
"Achoo!"
She sneezed again and again.
Zachary stared at her intently. Her face was very small, and her long black eyelashes were trembling, making her seem weaker than before.
Zachary started the car silently and drove under the rain.
Yvonne smiled, and there was a hint of bitterness in her voice, but she still tried to comfort Zachary. "I have a slight allergy which causes me to sneeze when I encounter extreme weather changes. Don't worry about it and drive slowly. It's dangerous to drive so quickly when it's raining heavily."
"I'm cold," Zachary said indifferently.
Perhaps he didn't even know why he was feeling so flustered. Although he held a lot of resentment towards her, he still couldn't help but to worry for her.
All he could think of right now, was to send her home as soon as possible. That way, she could take a warm shower, change into a set of dry clothes, and rest under the blanket.
This was the only thought in his mind.
Therefore, he drove really quickly.
Yvonne could guess what he was thinking about. This very thought probably made him very frustrated, and hence the reason for his fast driving.
When Yvonne saw him like that, she let out a long sigh and said nothing.
Perhaps it wasn't appropriate for her to say anything at this moment.
Soon, they arrived at the apartment.
During the entire journey, Yvonne kept on restraining herself from sneezing. Her trachea wasn't in good condition. After childbirth, she hadn't been able to take care of herself properly, as she had to raise Maria single-handedly while taking on part-time jobs. Hence, she frequently caught a cold. So, eventually sneezing became an after-effect of her damaged trachea. Every time the air wasn't clear, she would sneeze and even have worse symptoms at times.
She tried her best to restrain herself and not sneeze, lest Zachary would worry further and speed up his driving.
By attempting to restrain herself, she kept covering her mouth, which made her face redden a lot.
Zachary checked on her several times. So, he noticed how red her face had become, which caused him to speed up even more.
Fortunately, it was midnight, along with heavy rain. So, there weren't many cars out there. They remained safe despite driving so quickly back to the apartment.
Yvonne was about to get out of the car, but Zachary told her to wait first.
Yvonne felt confused.
Zachary gave her an order in a serious tone. "Wait for me here. I'll be back soon."
After that, he got out of the car and ran into the apartment in the rain.
Yvonne was quite shocked. She looked at how hurriedly he had left in his light-colored blouse, which made him look even taller.
His figure was like a towering mountain in the rainy night, providing her with strength and support.
She sat in the car, and there was a tinge of bitterness in her eyes. She knew for sure that Zachary had gone up before her to get an umbrella and an extra set of clothes.
Even though he hated her, he still didn't want her to walk under the rain or remain cold.
This man was still as kind and warm as he was many years ago.
However, her actions caused them to miss out on so many things.
When it came to feeling guilty, the thing she felt most guilty about was how she had made him bear so much resentment in his heart. She wasn't worried about him hating herself. Instead, she was worried of him torturing himself.
That day, when she went to the Northward City and saw him smoking alone, Yvonne felt so uncomfortable that she could suffocate at any moment.
She wondered if he had always been like this for the past few years.
As expected.
Zachary had gone upstairs to get an umbrella and some clothes.
That umbrella wasn't prepared by her.
She hadn't had the time to prepare one.
She couldn't believe that there was an umbrella upstairs. He must have prepared this prior to this.
The door opened again and Zachary handed her a big coat while he waited outside with an umbrella. "Wear this coat and get down."
