There was complete silence.
Cindy's eyes were widened as she stared at Celeste in a daze.
After asking the question, Celeste also fell silent.
This topic was taboo.
This topic was forbidden in their house. Every time she mentioned this, she would get scolded.
Celeste had asked this question back when she was very small. Consequently, her aunt had refused to visit her for three months.
Her nanny had taken care of her during that period, and she was scared that her nanny would abandon her too.
When she was still living in Canada, she spent most of her time alone.
But now, she couldn't hold it in anymore. She had come clean with everything.
Now, this problem was presented and it had to be resolved.
Celeste only wanted to know the truth. She knew she probably looked crazy.
She didn't have such courage at any given moment.
Now, she had mustered up her courage.
She wanted to know the truth.
Cindy stared at her. Her pupils dilated and her entire body was trembling.
"An illegitimate daughter?" She chuckled softly. She sounded sarcastic, "My a*s!"
Celeste's heart skipped a beat. She was a little puzzled to see her acting this way.
"Do you really think you're my illegitimate daughter?" Cindy questioned Celeste as well as herself. Suddenly, she burst out laughing.
It was as if she had gone mad.
The makeup on Cindy's face was ruined and her eyes were getting watery. Glitter was smeared across her eyelids, and it glittered under the lights. She looked particularly miserable.
"Liam, did you hear that?" Cindy glanced at Liam and laughed, "She said she's my illegitimate daughter."
Liam looked at Cindy awkwardly and didn't know what to say.
But at that very moment, he had been involved and there was no way he could just keep quiet. Thus, he said, "Miss White, I know that you might be exasperated, but I have no idea what's going on." "Don't try to play dumb with me," Cindy said bluntly, "Are there such rumours regarding this?"
Liam opened his mouth awkwardly, not knowing what to say.
"That's enough. From the looks of it, there must be such a rumour," Cindy uttered.
Liam nodded, "That's indeed true. Miss White, there is really such a rumour regarding this. However, everyone inside the entertainment industry knows that most of the rumours are unreliable."
"Then do you believe it?" Cindy asked.
Liam was frozen in place.
He was at a loss for words.
He felt that it might be true.
Seeing that Liam didn't answer her question, Cindy laughed wildly again, "You all really think too highly of me. If I had such a daughter, I would have said that I was the one who gave birth to her. Do you think I will hide my daughter like this and raise her in the dark?"
Liam was silent.
Celeste looked at her and muttered, "Don't people in the entertainment industry enjoy raising their children in the dark? If I'm not your child, why would you want to raise me up in Canada? Why can't you just say that I am your niece?"
Cindy shot back, "Didn't I already admit that you are my niece to Liam?"
"That's different," Celeste paused and stared at her, insisting, "Liam is not the media."
Cindy snorted, "Who do you think you are? Do you need the media to recognize your identity?"
After being satirized, Celeste's heart skipped a beat. She pursed her lips and said, "You are contradicting your own words. Isn't this evidence that you can't even tell me who I really am?"
"You are my niece," Cindy insisted.
