A smile of appreciation appeared from the corners of Gary's lips. He then raised his chin slightly and said, "Have a taste."
Well...
Of course, it was an honor to be able to savor the meal made personally by the eldest son of the Jones family.
The dishes on the table included some spaghetti and braised chicken. The dishes looked very scrumptious.
"It'll taste good."
It was already nice for them to have a meal at this hour.
Celeste was about to grab a chair and sit down.
"Wait," Gary stopped her.
Hence, Celeste could only look up at him.
Gary helped her into her seat. His gentlemanly behaviour surprised her and she thanked him.
"You're welcome."
After Celeste sat down, Gary walked to the other side and grabbed a chair to sit down himself.
"Can I eat first?" Celeste felt really ravenous after seeing the food.
"It's up to you," Gary nodded and reached out for the bottle of red wine. He opened it and poured some red wine into two wine glasses.
"I don't drink," Celeste tried to refuse the drink, "I've never touched alcohol."
"Today's a special day," Gary's deep gaze was still on Celeste's face. He was satisfied with her words but offered, "Drink a little."
"No," Celeste insisted, "Aunt Smith said that girls can't drink alcohol. The price to pay for drinking is too high. Not everyone is so lucky."
Gary suddenly smiled and sighed when he heard this.
"Celeste, my mom and Heinz got together after drinking, and that's how Ernest and I were born. Later, we were abducted away by a vicious woman, who left Ernest to the traffickers and went back to Heinz after that. I followed my mom and only found out the existence of my brother five years later. Only then did my mom realize that Heinz was the man who made her pregnant at that time."
"What?" Celeste was astonished. This story was too complicated, and it was also very inconceivable.
"Are you shocked?"
"Yes," Celeste nodded honestly and finally understood why Grace asked her not to drink wine. It turned out that she had such a -past.
Fortunately, they had been together. If Aunt Smith had not been with Uncle Jones, it would have been a tragedy, wouldn't it?
She suddenly exclaimed, "So Aunt Smith is afraid that I would be deceived by bad people. I have never drunk before. Now it seems that it was right not to drink."
"You're quite obedient," Gary felt gratified when he saw how happy she was, "But today, with me by your side, I'll allow you to have a taste of it."
"Then what if I get addicted?" Celeste was in a dilemma, "I think it's best if I don't try it, even if it's just a little bit."
She was in a predicament just staring at the wine.
Gary focused his gaze on her face, but he did not say anything.
When Celeste looked into his eyes, she struggled even more.
"I appreciate Aunt Smith's kindness," Celeste told him seriously. "So, don't make me feel like I betrayed her, okay?" "So do you mean I'm a liar?" Gary lowered his gaze. He tried to coax her upon noticing her reluctance, "What I mean is that you can actually drink a little wine. You don't need to be so nervous."
"I'm not nervous," Celeste immediately shook her head, sweat dotting the inside of her palm.
She was subconsciously nervous.
With just one look at her, Gary could immediately see through her cover.
Both of them had taken a shower. They both used the same kind of shower gel, and the fragrance on their bodies was the same.
