Janice didn't say anything. She just looked at Gary with her puppy dog eyes. Those bright eyes stained with tears looked so innocent and fragile.
Whenever Celeste looked at Janice, she couldn't help but feel her heart tighten as well. A sense of pity and empathy would arise within her.
Men probably preferred women like this more.
She looked at Ava.
With that, the two of them left silently.
Gary looked up and saw that Celeste and her friend had already reached the door. He called out softly, "Celeste."
Celeste turned around and looked at Gary from a distance. She flashed him a faint yet distant smile, "We'll be back soon. Don't worry, my dear brother."
She was smiling.
Her smile looked warm, but Gary felt as if she was somewhere far, far away.
It was as if she was no longer in his grip.
Gary suddenly felt that his heart was empty.
His brow creased. By the time he wanted to say something, Celeste had already left.
Outside the hotel.
Ava finally asked, 'Are you alright?"
Celeste smiled, but her heart was deathly silent, "I'm fine."
"But you look very pale," Ava looked as if she knew everything, and even her smile was full of deep sympathy.
Celeste touched her face. After a while, she smiled pallidly, "I was scared. Now, seeing that she is fine, I'm relieved. There are some things that I've let go of."
"Your brother," Ava tried to hint, "I can see that the relationship between you two is not so simple."
"That's right," Celeste nodded again, "Exactly, I love him. I once thought that if I were to marry someone in my life, it'd be that man. No other man would enter my eyes ever again."
Ava shrugged her shoulders and sighed, "Now that you are saying such, I don't think you have the same thought anymore."
"No, I still love him now," Celeste said with a lonely smile, "I just don't know how to be with him anymore. We've already agreed on breaking up. He will be my brother, and I will be his sister. No more, no less."
Ava looked at her and wanted to speak but stopped on second thought.
Celeste laughed and said softly, "It doesn't matter. Just say what you want to say. I should be much stronger than before."
"Celeste, you deserve better," Ava said this to comfort her and to help her tie up some loose knots, "Of course, you should make your own decisions."
Celeste nodded, "I understand. Thank you, Ava. Let's go."
When they arrived at the mobile phone shop, they took out the broken mobile phone and bought a similar one. They then requested the staff there to help them change the SIM card and transfer the contents of the old phone into the new phone.
The moment the phone was unlocked, Celeste saw a folder on the phone containing photos.
Inside, there were many pictures of Gary and Janice. Her smile was bright and radiant in the pictures.
Affection was lingering within Gary's gaze.
Celeste felt that his gaze on Janice's face was terribly glaring.
She didn't really want to look at them anymore.
Ava also saw it. She held Celeste's hand and encouraged her, "Look, there are some things that you should look at clearly. It's better than escaping from reality."
With that, Celeste looked up and observed all the photos again.
Some of the pictures consisted of three people. The other was a few years older than Gary and Janice, and he was very good-looking. He was gentle and very tall.
Celeste could tell that this person was Lowell Jones.
After all, Maria had shown her a photo of Lowell before.
Now that she recalled it, it was strange. Gary had never shown her photos of Lowell before. Other than Gary himself, everything else she knew was from Maria and Ernest.
She felt that her relationship with Gary was a little too confidential.
It was just like a dream. Now, it was time to wake up.
Celeste looked at the photos of the three of them and found out that in every picture, Janice was tilting her head subconsciously towards Gary.
In psychology, if a person took the initiative to approach a person, it meant that they subconsciously accepted that person.
Gary was tilting his head slightly in Janice's direction as well. Even though his movement was not as obvious as Janice's, it was still obvious.
Lowell, who appeared in the few photos, looked more like an outsider.
There were unlimited photos there. At an estimate, Celeste flipped through around a few hundred photos.
She had seen all that she could see.
