True Fated Marriage novel Chapter 1418

"She's fine now, I don't have to accompany her anymore," It was rare for Gary to clarify things first, "You haven't eaten anything yet. Are you hungry?"

"I'm not hungry," Celeste shook her head. Her attitude towards him was also very calm as she made her request, "Open the door, I'll grab my stuff."

Gary's gaze swept over Celeste's face. He mused for a moment before opening the door for her.

He wasn't sure what Celeste was thinking. In fact, he wasn't sure if Celeste was still angry with him. He was just a little annoyed.

It seemed that the calmer she was, the more worried and afraid he was.

As soon as the door opened, he let Celeste in first.

He felt very upset when he saw her smile. Celeste was still thinking about Janice. Shouldn't she be happy that he was back?

"She's just gone through a lot. If anything happened to her, I'd feel bad," Celeste walked in and said, "It's good that she is fine. Otherwise, you and I would feel uneasy for the rest of our lives."

All of a sudden, Gary grabbed Celeste by the wrist tightly.

She was shocked and turned around to look at him. She found that he had an intense gaze fixed on her, and his expression was gloomy and downcast.

"It hurts," Celeste thought he was angry with her and explained, "I'm sorry. I should have insisted on letting you come back to pick her up. Besides, it's not safe for her to be in England alone. It's my fault that I didn't think it through."

Celeste had thought about it rationally. If something really happened to Janice, her conscience would never be at ease. Now was not the time to quarrel with Gary.

Gary loosened his grip but he didn't let go of her wrist. When he heard her words, he was filled with mixed feelings.

He put Celeste in his arms firmly, with a strong domineering aura yet a faint sense of apology. He muttered, "It's not your fault, I didn't mean to blame you."

"Then what's the matter?" Celeste was very puzzled.

Gary pulled Celeste into his embrace and hugged her tightly, as if he was afraid that he would no longer be able to hold her again.

Celeste was stunned for a moment. She froze when she smelled the fragrance of Janice, which had been left behind by her when she held Gary in her arms.

Once she realized that she shouldn't have made a fuss, Celeste broke out of his embrace and cleared her throat, saying, "Let me go first. Right now, Miss Simpson is still in shock. Maybe she needs someone to accompany her. You can go now. I'll be looking through some documents for the time being. It's okay, you don't have to take care of me. I'll call you if I have something to do."

"Why should I accompany her?" Gary was angry, "Why do you keep asking me to go to her side?"

Celeste was stupefied. Once she looked up, she saw Gary looking down at her with impatience brewing in his eyes.

She pursed her lips and said, "She must be very afraid. I am afraid that she'll do something impulsive."

"She's an adult now," Gary reminded her, "She's safe now. Nothing will happen."

Celeste's eyes were widened in suspicion.

Gary explained patiently, "Really, I promise, Janice won't ever act impulsively. She's really a sensitive person. Do you think all the girls are the same as you?"

Celeste was stunned for a while as an unspeakable feeling arose in her heart.

It seemed that to him, she was a sensitive person who would act rashly.

His words made her feel speechless, and a bitter smile appeared at the corner of her lips, "Yes, I'm sensitive, so I'm always worried that others will be like me and overthink things. It seems that you know Miss Simpson well, so I'm relieved."

Gary was taken aback. A look of regret flashed across his eyes as he quickly said, "Celeste, that's not what I meant. I'm not talking about you."

"I know," Celeste shook her head and smiled at him, "Though, I guess you don't know me very well either. I'm not really the type to act rashly."

Her attitude was very calm. Frighteningly calm.

Gary was also very dejected. He stared deeply at Celeste, his gaze a bottomless pit of emotions.

"I'll take a shower first. After I take a shower, I'll call for room service to deliver some food for us. Wait for me."

Celeste nodded.

In front of her, he began to take off his clothes and shuffled into the bathroom.

Celeste helped him to pick up his clothes from behind, but he didn't close the door and just started bathing.

She took a look and quickly turned her eyes back to the room.

She had been walking for the entire day. She was a little tired and uncomfortable, but she also knew that it was time to pack up and leave the room, just in case Janice came and saw her here tomorrow. It wouldn't be appropriate if that happened.

Celeste quickly packed up her things. While Gary was showering, she wrote a note and dragged her suitcase away.

She went to the room that she had just booked next door. She wanted to take a bath first and make herself more comfortable.
