Celeste made him a cup of coffee. When she returned to the living room, she saw Gary sitting on the sofa with his eyes slightly closed. His eyelashes were long and dense, forming a sliver of a shadow underneath his eyes.
The bridge of his nose and plump lips were prominent as if they were sculpted to perfection. Due to the dim lighting and the shadows that were cast over his face, it looked more even defined.
He was resting with his eyes closed. He looked lonely, as though he was immersed in his own world, leaving no one to disturb him.
Celeste set the coffee cup on the table and said, "Here's your drink. I'm going upstairs."
"Alright." Gary opened his eyes. When he turned to look at Celeste, she had already made her way up the stairs.
It seemed like she no longer had any feelings for him whatsoever.
That was the first time they met each other after they had parted. They greeted each other like old friends, casually mentioning their break-up.
Gary picked up his coffee cup and took a sip.
It smelled good.
That cup of coffee was made by he. He could feel her warmth and aura.
It was precious.
The weather turned very cold in November.
At that moment, the sky had darkened as though it was about to rain.
Sure enough, the rain came down hard an hour later. Gary brought his luggage upstairs. As he passed by the second floor, he glanced in the direction of Celeste's room.
The door was closed shut, isolating her from everything that was happening outside.
He stood in the corridor of the second floor and took a deep breath. It seemed that that was the only way he could feel her presence.
He stood by the stairs, not in a hurry to leave.
Then, the door to her room swung open.
She spotted Gary at a glance. He had a tall build, radiating a suffocating kind of pressure as he stood on the spot.
Upon hearing the sound of the door swinging open, Gary immediately turned around.
Their eyes met with a plethora of
complex emotions swirling in their eyes.
Celeste was the first to speak up, "What took you so long to head upstairs?"
She thought that Gary had already gone upstairs. It had been more than an hour since she returned to her room.
She had stayed in her room for more than an hour up to the point it started raining. She realized that she couldn't hide in her room and escape from reality.
Since they lived together, they were bound to cross paths.
She felt that there was no need for her to go through such lengths to avoid him. The more she tried to avoid him, the more she couldn't let things go.
It was better to be casual. That was her own decision. So, when she walked out of her room, she didn't expect to run into Gary standing by the stairs.
He stared at her deeply.
He noticed that Celeste seemed to have changed her outfit. He frowned and asked, "Are you heading out?"
She nodded, "I've something I need to buy." "But it's raining outside," Gary reminded her, "If you go out in this weather, you'll catch a cold." "Thank you for your concern. I'll be fine. I'll be back in a short while," Celeste answered politely.
Her tone indicated that she had to buy the item as she was on her period, and she had run out of tampons.
It was a crisis. She had to leave the house to buy some tampons, or she wouldn't have any that night.
"If you want to buy something, ask Pedro to help you get it," Gary said with concern.
Celeste immediately shook her head, "I don't need others to buy it for me. I have to buy it myself."
Gary was startled. A light flickered in his eyes before he came to realize what she meant then inquired, "Is it something you have to use when you're on your period?"
Upon hearing this, Celeste was stunned. She frowned and didn't say anything.
"I'll buy it for you," Gary offered, "Don't leave the house when it's raining."
"There's no need to." After saying that, Celeste headed out.
Gary fixed his gaze on her as she walked past him. A faint fragrance wafted throughout her body, her scent filled his nostrils. He felt breathless.
Her determined figure made his eyes flash in pain. He frowned and carried his luggage to the room on the third floor. After settling it down, he put on his coat and chased after her.
When he arrived downstairs, Celeste had already disappeared. She was very quick.
Gary walked out of the door, anxious and didn't think of bringing an umbrella with him.
Pedro quickly handed him an umbrella and said, "Master Gary, where are you going? It's raining, take an umbrella with you."
"Where's Celeste?" Gary took the umbrella from Pedro, "Where did she go?"
"Oh, Miss Celeste said she was going to the convenience store. It's not far away. It's only a few miles away from the villa."
