Grace was stunned. After Lowell reminded her, she came back to her senses in an instant, frowning as she said, "Yes, you're right. I'd only make things worse for her. Forget it. We'll talk about it after we've asked the doctor tomorrow."

The butler asked, "Shall I boil some soup then?"

"There's no rush to do so for now," Lowell ordered the butler, "Go and deal with your affairs."

The few of them looked at Grace, while Grace looked at Heinz with disdain.

Grace was unsatisfied. She told Ernest and Lowell, "Ernest, Lowell, most of the men here in the Jones family are already no good. It's all up to you two in the future."

When Celeste returned to her room, she saw Gary getting out of bed, seemingly panicking. Once Gary saw Celeste entering the room with food, he was stunned before heaving a sigh of relief.

He said, "You gave me one hell of a fright. I thought you had left."

Celeste tensed up.

She looked at Gary and noticed that he was indeed worried. His sentence earlier was not a joke. A bitter feeling welled up in Celeste's heart as she said, "Where else can I go since I'm already here? Are you hungry? Here, have a bite. Aunt Smith mentioned all of us will leave at twelve in the afternoon. You have the time for some sleep."

Gary approached her, closed the door behind her and locked it. Then, he took the tray over from Celeste and placed it on the table.

He turned towards her and hugged her tightly. Without a word, he lowered his head and was about to kiss her.

Celeste immediately covered his mouth to stop him from going any further.

Gary could not kiss Celeste and had his lips pecked on her palm instead. He frowned and pleaded, "Come on. Let me have a kiss."

Celeste shook her head and said in a soft voice, "Gary, times are different now. Today is your grandfather's funeral. We shouldn't act this way. This is a great disrespect to the deceased."

Gary was slightly taken aback. Noticing the serious expression on Celeste's face, he knew that she had always been an obedient child.

He heaved, "My grandfather has never been of much use to anyone. He has been too used to doing whatever he wants in his life. He's even stopping me from kissing my lovely woman even though he has passed away."

Gary's words were filled with protest.

"Don't say that," Celeste whispered, "We should respect the dead."

"Alright, I'll respect your decision," Gary sighed helplessly.

"Wash your face, come over and have something to eat. You can continue to sleep after that. Do you hear me?" Celeste said as she observed his eyes. She found that his eyes had recovered but they were still slightly bloodshot, which meant that he did not have a good sleep.

"I don't want to continue sleeping," Gary shook his

head.

"How's that possible? Your eyes are still red."

"It's fine. I think I'm doing well. Did you run into Heinz and my mother when you went down just then?"

"We talked for a while when we met," Celeste told him the truth.

"Was she happy to see you back?"

Celeste nodded, "Yes, I can feel that Aunt Smith is really pleased."

Gary smiled and said, "Of course, she regards you as her daughter-in-law. When she saw you coming to the funeral, she must have felt relieved. Of course, this is just a formality. What's most important is that I have a spot in your heart. That's what delighted her."

Celeste took a deep breath before she asked, "Do you really think that it's important for me to come back?"

Gary nodded seriously, "Of course. Although I'm a carefree person, I think that these ceremonies are important in our lives. Our hearts and emotions are often reflected in the small details of life. I did poorly in the past, so that's why you feel wronged and sad."
