Liam gave Maria the gentlest and most sincere love he could give. He felt sorry for her, and the closer he got to her, the more he loved her.
The two of them spent a warm night together. The next morning, Liam got up to buy something while Maria was still asleep.
He did not wake Maria up and went out early in the morning.
On his way back, he happened to bump into Teresa in the basement car park. It seemed as if she was waiting for him. She stood next to a car wearing sportswear and sunglasses, with her hair tied into a ponytail.
When he saw her, Liam was surprised.
"Good morning." Teresa took off her sunglasses and walked over. She stood in front of him and said, "Did you go grocery shopping so early in the morning? Liam, you're still as active as ever."
Liam looked at her car and then at her. He frowned. "Do you stay here?"
"Yes, I moved in last night. My unit is in the same building as yours. I'll be your neighbor in the future." Teresa smiled and said, "I'm in Unit 2 while you're in Unit 1
Liam's frown deepened. "Just what exactly do you want, Teresa?"
Teresa smiled. "Nothing, it's just a coincidence. I wanted to move here too. It's convenient for me to live in an apartment. Besides, now that I live so near to you, it'll be convenient for me to look for you in the future."
Liam's eyes darkened, and his gaze turned cold.
"Don't look at me like that," Teresa replied, shrugging her shoulders. "I'm single now, Liam. I can stay here if I want to."
"You're right. You have the freedom to stay where you want," Liam told her coldly.
He knew that there were some things he should refrain from asking, but he could not help but frown when he learned that Teresa had moved into the same apartment building as him. He quickly took out the things he had bought from his car and locked the door, getting ready to leave.
Teresa looked at the bags in his hands. He had bought enough food for two people. A look of surprise flashed in her eyes, and she asked, "Liam, are you in a relationship?"
Liam ignored her, his face expressionless.
Teresa did not give up and continued to follow him. She stared at the bags in his hand and asked, "Does your company know that you're in a relationship? Are you really in a relationship?"
"It's none of your business," Liam said coldly. "You're neither my manager nor my boss. So no matter what I do, it has nothing to do with you."
"So, does that mean you admit to being in a relationship?" Teresa looked at him with deep worry in her eyes.
Liam struggled to control the last bit of reasoning he had.
He knew that he did not have the ability to protect Maria at the moment, thus he could not give anyone any chance to hurt her.
"No, I'm not in a relationship." Liam took a step back before continuing. "But it doesn't matter whether I am in a relationship or not. My love life has nothing to do with you, Miss Trevino."
Teresa was slightly relieved to hear his denial, but when she saw the things he was holding, she felt confused again. "Then, why did you buy these things?"
"How many times must I tell you? It has nothing to do with you," Liam replied impatiently.
"You're right. It does not have anything to do with me. I'm just worried about you. If you're really in a relationship, your company will definitely not be happy about it. You're already in a bad situation. Liam, you need me. With my current abilities, I can definitely offer you some sort of protection." Teresa looked at him and said in a sincere manner, "I know this will hurt your self-esteem, but Liam, do you think you have any other choice? If they continue to suppress you like this, you'll be done for."
"All I know is that whether or not I succeed, it has nothing to do with anybody."
Liam knew full well that his success was related to his own character and habits. No one else could make his decisions for him.
He was now bound by a contract, but if he could not break free from his current difficulties, he would not be able to go far even with the help of other people.
Right now, what he needed to do was to be prepared at all times. He needed to find an opportunity and make a breakthrough.
In his heart, he was clear about what he needed to do.
He was only expressing his true thoughts. As he looked at Teresa, his eyes were exceptionally clear and honest.
Teresa was momentarily dumbfounded, and she felt a little ashamed.
She could not help but take a step back.
