Maria's mouth fell open in shock and she immediately became nervous. "She has feelings for you, that's why she wants to get close to you first before making her move. Miss Trevino is so beautiful. Liam, do you really not like her?"
"If I liked her, would I tell you?" Liam asked.
Maria was taken aback at first, then she smiled. "That makes sense. You're very frank. I'm sure you don't have any feelings for her."
Although she said so, fear still lingered in her heart. After all, Teresa had straight- up revealed her intentions.
She felt a nagging in her heart telling her that it was fine if she was in Northern City, but what would happen when she left Northern City and went back to England?
Maria was determined not to let that happen. She had to come up with the perfect solution. Otherwise, he would be stolen by Teresa.
She started to think hard.
Liam glanced at her and said, "Don't go overthinking. I told you because I was afraid that you would misunderstand. I only found out about it when I bumped into her on my way up from the car park."
"Okay, I'll stop thinking about it." Maria took a deep breath. "Thinking about it won't change anything anyway."
Upon hearing that, Liam frowned and said, "Don't you have any confidence in me?"
"Of course I do," Maria replied seriously. "I'm just afraid that she'll take advantage and try to get in between us. I still have to stay in England for another two years, so we'll be far apart from each other. If I said I wasn't worried, I would be lying. However, there are too many beautiful women in this world who covet you. But worrying about it and having no confidence in myself won't do any good. All I should focus on is to become a better and more attractive person so that you won't leave me."
Liam was stunned for a moment, and he gazed deeply into Maria's eyes.
Maria took a bite of the breadstick in her hand and continued, "Anyway, what I'm saying is that instead of changing you, it would be best if I changed myself first."
Liam's heart skipped a beat. Those words resonated strongly with him.
He also thought that it would be better to change oneself than others.
It seemed that they had a lot in common.
Liam laughed out loud.
He smiled and said, "It's good if you can think that way. However, I really don't have any feelings for Teresa. You can rest assured."
"Yes, I know." Maria nodded with a smile. "By the way, I still think we need to discuss what we should do if she discovers our relationship. She'll definitely want to know who I am. It'll be too late for you to come up with a plan when that happens, so why don't we discuss it now?"
Liam was once again surprised. "Maria, you're really like a manager. You are already planning on how to handle things if it goes sideways."
"Haha! Isn't it good that I have such a potential?" Maria felt happy that he had made that remark. She had always thought of becoming his manager after graduating. After pondering for a while, she said, "If she sees us, tell her that I'm your junior from the University of London and that I came to you for help about something. Just say that, okay?"
"Don't you want to let everyone know that you're my girlfriend?" Liam could hardly believe how generous Maria was. She had thought of
everything.
"Of course I want to, but now is not the time," Maria said. "If we reveal our relationship now, it won't do you any good at all. Besides, it'll be harder to handle things if something changes when I'm not in the country. Hence, let's wait until the time is right. Besides, you can't be impulsive right now, do you understand?"
Liam gazed at Maria with a serious expression and said, "But that'll be unfair to you."
"I don't feel wronged. I have you. What's there to feel unfair about?" Maria smiled brightly. "I can secretly have you all to myself. If no one else knows about us, then no one will take you away from me. However, once you make our relationship known, a lot of your fans will probably want to kill me."
"Maria, when Teresa saw that I bought so much food today, she asked if I was in a relationship. I said no," Liam said truthfully.
Surprised, Maria looked into Liam's clear eyes. She smiled and said, "How smart of you. If you didn't say that, were you going to admit it? And even if you were in a relationship, what does it have to do with her?"
"I thought you'd be angry." He had been worried that she would be angry if he told her the truth.
However, Maria only laughed and shook her head. "I'm not angry. I know you're trying to protect me. Come on, hurry up and eat."
Maria gestured toward the food as she urged him to continue eating.
Somewhat taken aback, he looked at her with confusion.
Suddenly, he realized that he still did not understand her enough.
Maria repeated, "Hurry up and eat. After that, let's do some exercise."
"Exercise?" Liam raised his eyebrows, and a look of surprise flashed in his eyes. "What do you mean by that?"
"I'm going to bully you," Maria said. "Just the thought of other women coveting you makes my blood boil with anger. You belong to me, and only me. I'm going to bully you to prove that you can only be mine."
As she spoke, her eyes flashed with shyness and bravery at the same time.
Her gaze left Liam in a daze. He smiled, thinking that she was indeed different from others.
After she finished her breakfast, she sighed and said, "That was delicious. An absolute treat. I haven't had such good food in a long time. With such delicious food, what else can I want in life?"
Liam was amused and rendered speechless by Maria's comments. He turned to look at her lovingly.
