True Fated Marriage novel Chapter 1859

Heinz glanced at him indifferently, ignoring his question.

"Is it really that simple?" Michael almost could not believe his own ears and asked again.

He was still suspicious about whether Heinz had any more conditions. He did not believe that Heinz would let him go so easily. He felt as if he was on an emotional rollercoaster. His emotions were shifting so drastically from one moment to another that he felt as if they were about to break him.

"It really is that simple," Heinz replied in a low voice.

Michael gasped. Nonetheless, he still looked at Heinz somewhat warily.

So, was Heinz just fooling with Michael just now? Michael wondered.

"Are you really willing to let me go? You're not joking, right?" Michael asked again uncertainly.

Heinz answered in a deep voice, "As long as you clean up your act and behave, I won't punish you for what you did this time. But if it happens again, your fate won't be as simple as becoming a eunuch."

Michael stared at Heinz without saying anything for a long time.

"You've worked with Simon for some time too, so must more or less know about his past. Therefore, you should know about his disability too. I'll give you a warning. He's a mirror image of you," Heinz added.

Michael felt as if his eyes were rolling into the back of his head, and his face turned pale. The image of Simon's current appearance in his mind was indeed terrifying to behold.

The mere thought of Simon's ghastly appearance struck a chill in Michael's heart.

If Michael ended up like that, it would be truly terrifying. Michael thought to himself.

Michael looked at Heinz. Although Heinz appeared calm and unthreatening, Michael knew that he was an extremely cruel and merciless man.

And he was certainly a man of his word.

That knowledge only made Michael even more afraid.

He felt that he should seriously consider Heinz's offer. After all, there was not much of a market for his business in the country. He also did not have a home or children there. It would probably be better to go abroad and find a place to live a free life.

Or, he could find another woman and live a normal life.

"Okay, I promise you that I won't come back ever again. But, you have to fulfill your promise of not investigating the past." Michael was fearful that Heinz would go back on his word.

"As long as you abide by my request, I won't look into what happened in the past," Heinz said coldly.

"Okay. Then I'll do as you say. Let me go now. I'll pack up my things and leave Northern City at once."

Michael wanted to leave the country at once and never return.

"What's the rush?" Heinz smiled faintly. "I promised to let you go, but not now."

When he heard that, Michael was stunned. He frowned and asked, "Are you going to go back on your word again? Are you still going to imprison me?"

"It's not imprisonment. I want you to be my guest. I'll let you go after Cindy and Sinclair's sentencing. Your wife will also be sentenced," Heinz said lightly.

"What happens to Monica has nothing to do with me," Michael said with a snort. He was still upset by her betrayal.

Heinz looked at him as he said, "No matter what, she's still your wife. You two haven't divorced yet. Don't tell me you don't want a divorce."

Michael was stunned. "Of course I do."

"Then, you can go once everything, including your divorce, is settled," Heinz said decisively. His plan was to get Michael to leave the country and never make any trouble again. He wanted Michael to live his life far, far away.

Michael shook his head. "How long do I have to wait? You're clearly restricting my right to freedom! There's no point in imprisoning me. I have already promised you that I'll leave the country. What else do you want from me?"

"You're here as my guest to give you a taste of what it's like to lose your freedom. Before Cindy's sentencing, you'll experience what it's like to have no freedom. It's to serve as a reminder to you, just in case you mess up and repeat the same mistakes," Heinz said firmly.

Michael could not understand Heinz at all. He looked at Heinz and frowned again. "I think you're a little too cautious. I admit that I got confused this time. There was a moment where I thought of helping Cindy since she gave me a lot of money when I left. I thought that we still had some feelings for each other after all these years."

Heinz shot him an icy smile. "Both of you were having an affair. Did you think you'd develop feelings for each other?"

"Of course, I can't compare with you. You're a loyal and devoted man, but I can't do that. I have also never thought of being a good husband because Monica isn't a good wife. We all have our own difficulties. I know you have a good wife that everyone admires, so you don't have to show off in front of me. If I had such a wife, I believe I wouldn't mess around either. It's just that everyone's life is different." He let out all his grievances in one breath.

Oftentimes, when one suppresses one's hurts and grievances, one would only feel more and more troubled. In the end, one would lose their reasoning and common sense.

"Everything that happens is a result of our actions, so don't play the victim," Heinz said rudely.

Michael was dumbfounded. Then, he smiled and said, "In reality, I'm a victim too. I don't know if you know how it feels like to be cheated on, but I was hurt when I found out that Monica had cheated on me. I was cuckolded. Also, I only found out after a long, long time."

When Michael thought about all that had happened, he was filled with pain, resentment, and frustration.

He still could not let go of the past at all.

As a man, he felt that being cheated on was a terribly shameful thing.

Of course, Heinz had been cheated on by someone before too.

Jodie was like that too, wasn't she? Heinz thought to himself.

Forget it. It's better to just let it go.

"Even so, that shouldn't have been your reason to have an affair with Cindy," Heinz replied in a low voice.

Michael nodded. "You're right. That really shouldn't have been my reason for cheating. However, I had no other choice. I thought that was what I wanted back then. I thought I had to do that."
