Celeste understood what Gary felt as well.

Life was strange that way. What was once unacceptable became acceptable over time.

People who were once thought unforgivable would slowly be forgiven as time passed.

Just like how Celeste couldn't help but feel sad when she thought of Cindy's encounter.

Celeste smiled wryly at the thought of Janice as well. She was pitiful, honestly.

She wasn't able to get the man she loved, so she went to extremes to get him. Celeste actually found her quite sad.

"To me, my grandfather wasn't a great person." Gary forced out a despondent smile as he looked at the decor inside the house.

Grace had managed to convince Heinz after some time to buy Lawrence this house and let him live here.

Previously, he used to live in his rented apartment.

He'd only moved into this villa recently.

Gary sometimes got agitated when he thought about how Lawrence lived out his golden years in prosperity.

He felt that his wicked grandfather shouldn't have deserved such a good life.

Alas, what could he do?

His parents still provided the old man a relatively comfortable life.

He didn't know why at that time, but now he understood.

In fact, all of it was just to ensure his parents' peace of mind in the future. Forgiving others was forgiving oneself too, in a way.

"I think that you heard about what he has done in the news," Gary said.

Celeste nodded. "Well, you're not wrong."

"Bad press surrounded my grandfather a lot in the beginning, but my dad managed to suppress a lot of it after. There wasn't much else after that."

Celeste nodded slightly and did not say anything.

"The old man has done a lot of bad things in his life, and he didn't repent even in his old age. Nevertheless, he still lived such a good life. Isn't that unfair?" Gary glanced at Celeste when he said that.

Celeste was surprised, feeling that Gary was rather out of sorts today. Why was he asking this question? To comfort her? Or was he looking for an answer?

"Nothing is absolutely fair in this world. It's all relative," Celeste said softly.

"What about you?" Gary retorted, "Do you think that life is also unfair to you?"

Celeste paused for a while before she nodded.

Yeah.

She felt that life was rather unfair to her when she thought about it.

So what, though?

The days had to go on. She had to accept it.

One had to always accept that life was inherently unfair, and one should learn to be more forgiving and flexible.

If she couldn't adjust to the circumstances, then she would just end up being hurt.

Then, Celeste suddenly realized something. Perhaps she should be more forgiving instead of dwelling on Gary's mistake.

She pressed her lips together and asked, "Gary, what are you going to do about Janice?"

Gary was taken aback. He asked, "What? Do you still think I cheated on you with Janice?"

He fixed a steady glare at Celeste as his chest slowly filled with anger.

"I don't know." Celeste shook her head. Whenever the image of them being together flashed in her mind, Celeste would feel a sharp headache coming on.

Hence, Celeste didn't even want to think about it. She was afraid that it would kill her.
