That sentence instantly caused the whole dining room to fall into a state of great awkwardness and silence.
Lowell was also stunned and awkward. A hint of redness flashed across his handsome face.
He looked towards Kendrix, but he was not angry, not even after being mocked. Instead, there was only self-mockery in his eyes.
Perhaps that was what it was.
Perhaps, he really was too meddlesome.
However, they were all his closest relatives. How could he not be bothered about them?
His brother and sister were the closest ones to him, and they were the ones who raised him. So, it was only natural that he placed the most obligation into caring for their children.
However, in the eyes of outsiders, perhaps he really was just a nosy person.
Instead of correcting Kendrix's statement, he just smiled, he did not take it seriously.
Sylvia and Claudia could tell that Kendrix was satirizing Lowell.
Sylvia was worried that Lowell would get angry, so she looked towards him.
When she found out that Lowell was not angry, she was somewhat surprised.
She looked towards Kendrix's direction once more. She did not quite understand. Why would Mr. Trevino say that?
Those were truly words that hurt a lot, and they were harsh.
She was silent for a while, she did not know what to say at all.
Luckily, Claudia was quick to react. She came back from her senses and tried to loosen up the awkward atmosphere.
She smiled and chimed in, "Kendrix, your words are a little unpleasant."
Kendrix just glanced at Claudia.
Claudia chuckled and said, "What you said was a little out of place. A lot of times, as relatives, they are just caring for the ones they love. That is why they are sometimes nosy."
Kendrix did not answer, he did not show any expressions on his face either.
He looked towards Lowell faintly.
Lowell lowered his gaze, it seemed like he was a little surprised too.
He did not expect Claudia to be right about that. He was just concerned about Sylvia, he was not being nosy.
He was only concerned about the ones he loved the most.
He lowered his gaze still, and his eyes were calm.
"Mr. Jones, this dish is delicious. Have a taste." When Claudia saw how silent Lowell was, she pointed at a dish and urged him to eat more.
Lowell raised his head and smiled at Claudia. "Miss Loris, please eat more if you like it."
"I have never stopped eating, but why does it look like you are not eating much? Hurry up and eat." Claudia smiled kindly.
Lowell only nodded, he did not say anything.
Sylvia could not help but to look towards Kendrix.
He was looking at her too.
The two of them were looking at each other. His gaze was deep, and she could not tell what was on his mind.
Sylvia had thought about all the reactions Kendrix would have, but she did not expect him to assault her own uncle right in front of her and Claudia.
It seemed like he was doing that on purpose.
Was it because Lowell said something to him? Did he so happen to have annoyed Kendrix?
He actually liked her too, and he hoped that Lowell would not criticize him in that way.
Could she understand it that way?
There were too many doubts in Sylvia's mind, but she could not ask about them at the dining table at all.
Fortunately, after Kendrix finished saying that, he did not get any response from Lowell, and he reverted back to his calm self.
Lowell did not say anything after that, nor did he have any interaction with Kendrix. It was as if Kendrix did not exist to him at all during the meal.
Sebastian naturally understood the meaning behind Kendrix's words, but he never said anything either.
