Seeing Claudia extending her hand to snatch the ID, Sebastian lifted it up high then and there.
He was taller than her, thus it was beyond her reach once he lifted it high.
He had no intention to return her the ID. He looked down at her hand, which was holding his arm, with a slightly strange expression.
Claudia was clasping his arm. Noticing that he was looking at her, she withdrew her hand instantly and said, "Give it back to me!"
"Why are you in such a hurry?" Sebastian replied impassively, "So what if I take a look at it?"
"Why do you need to look at it? There's nothing noteworthy on it," Claudia muttered, "It isn't like you haven't seen one before. Do your relative who works as police officer not have a police ID too?"
"Yes, I've seen my uncle-in-law's police ID before. Indeed, there's nothing special about it," Sebastian answered apathetically.
"Then why did you look at mine?" Claudia mumbled.
"It's yours." Sebastian took another glance at it, as though it meant something. There was certain emotions in his tone, but he did not finish his words at last.
Being mystified, Claudia inquired, "What's wrong with mine?"
Sebastian looked up and did not look into Claudia's eyes.
"What's wrong with mine then?" Claudia shook his arm and appeared to be like a little girlfriend, who cajoled her boyfriend into indulging her whim.
The two of them stood together, looking like a perfect match.
For a moment, the lady, who called the police and considered them as scammers, sensed that something was amiss. She stared at them with a pucker between her eyebrows.
"Hey! Sebastian, say something." Claudia was still shaking his arm.
Sebastian had no choice but to lower his head to gaze at her.
In an instant, their eyes met.
Claudia perceived his dark eyes, and he was looking at her unblinkingly.
"What's wrong with mine?" Claudia zoned out for a short time before she asked quickly, "Tell me." "You look very ugly in the photo," Sebastian replied
in a fast tone.
"Ugly?" Claudia frowned. "How am I ugly? Everyone said that I'm adorable in that photo. My senior even commented that I look very cute in it, just like his first love. How dare you say that I'm ugly? Is there something wrong with your eyes?"
She was truly adorable.
Hearing that her seniors were all praising her, Sebastian could not tolerate it and got a little mad.
A feeling of bitterness descended on him, making him feel uncomfortable.
His face fell.
"Senior?"
"Yes." Claudia nodded. "Many boys in my police academy opined that I look great in this photo, but you said I'm ugly. I think there's a sense of sourness going on here. Even if I've offended you, you don't have hold me up as an object of ridicule, do you?"
"Many boys? How many are there exactly?" Sebastian grasped a key point in Claudia's sentence, wondering just how many boys she had flirted with.
How many boys had praised her photo? This was the first question that came to his mind.
He did not know why he cared about it so much.
The two of them gazed at each other, as if no one else was around. Claudia was also in perplexity as she really could not understand why he had to ask such a question.
In her eyes, there was no need to ask such a question at all.
Suddenly, something flashed through her mind. Her eyes widened as she goggled at him. "What... what do you mean by asking this?"
In fact, she wanted to say, "Do you care about this?"
She stammered a few times, but in the end, she did not ask such a question because she felt that it would be too presumptuous of her to ask so.
Certain words were easy to be said aloud, but the consequences that came after could be immeasurable.
Claudia altered her way of inquiring, and she did not avert her eyes from his, since she hoped to get an answer.
Sebastian was fazed by her gaze.
Being stared at by her just like that, it made his heart flutter. He actually dared not to look straight at her black and bright eyes.
