The woman shook her head gently and said with a little sob, "I'm fine. I just haven't been back in six years, so I can't help feeling sad."
The driver was a little surprised and said, "That's because you are being sentimental. Things have changed a lot, haven't they?"
"Yes." The woman nodded gently and her tears started to fill her eyes uncontrollably. "It has changed a lot. The whole city has changed."
"That's right. Northern City has changed a lot in the past six years," said the driver with a smile. "Miss, you've travelled a long way now, haven't you?"
"I came back from abroad." The woman whispered, "It took me a lot of twists and turns. Thank you for sending me back."
"Miss, you're too polite." The driver helped her carry the luggage to the door and said with a smile, "Go home quickly. Your family must be worried about you."
"Yes, they must be worried about me. I have to go back." The woman nodded and thanked the driver again. Then, she pulled her suitcase and went in.
As soon as she entered the door, she stopped and stood upright at the door, not looking in.
The house had changed in appearance. It was frighteningly quiet.
Pearlyn heard the door open. She was surprised and asked casually, "Who is it?"
There was no answer.
Pearlyn asked again, "Is that you, Lester?
Haven't you left yet?"
Outside, the young woman's face was covered with tears.
She stood there, her tears falling and rolling down from her beautiful face, instantly moistening a piece of ground under her feet.
She cried in a miserable state, but she was also crying silently.
Pearlyn heard nothing, so she had no choice but to get up and walk to the door, wanting to see who was in the garden.
She was absolutely shocked by what she saw.
Her eyes were wide open and with her lips trembling, Pearlyn cried, "Jodie, is that you?"
In the room, Nathan was also stunned. He got up from the sofa, trembling, and went to the door as fast as he could.
At first glance, Nathan was dumbfounded. His eyes widened and his mouth opened wide. He was shocked beyond belief.
At just a glance, the eyes of the old couple were filled with tears. They looked at the figure in front of them in shock and blinked their eyes.
"Is this real?" Pearlyn said softly, "Nathan, pinch me. I want to know if it hurts."
Nathan did not move, nor did he speak. His lips trembled slightly and he suddenly closed his eyes.
Tears welled up in his eyes and flowed down his cheeks.
The image of his daughter flashed through his mind and his tears streamed down from his eyes without control.
He opened his eyes again, only to see that the figure was still there.
"Jodie, is that you?" Nathan finally spoke in a trembling voice.
"Yes, it's me!" The woman blubbered; her voice was surprisingly hoarse.
Nathan froze and his eyes flashed with surprise. He was extremely shocked.
At this time, the woman in the yard knelt on the ground with a loud thud and cried, "Dad, Mom, I am unfilial and I have come back now. It's my fault, I have caused you both to be sad for so many years."
"Oh, Nathan." Pearlyn was so excited that she almost couldn't stand up properly. She grabbed Mr. Lawson's arm to support herself.
