Twisted Ties of Love novel Chapter 146

The next morning, the two of them got up, washed up, and had breakfast together.

Brett's breakfast was a fancy and complicated British one, while Izabella's was simple cornmeal porridge, fitting for someone with stomach troubles.

Brett didn't eat much. As he ate, he also drank coffee and read the newspaper. "I'll drive you to work later."

Izabella replied, "I'm going straight to The Felton Group today."

Brett put down the newspaper. "I'll give you a ride there."

Izabella suddenly felt something was off. He was driving her there? And it was on the way?

The Felton Group and The Windham Group were in completely opposite directions, one in the north and one in the south. There was no way it could be considered on the way. Was he planning to drive halfway around R City?

Not wanting to dampen his enthusiasm, Izabella tactfully held her tongue and only asked, "Why are you driving? Where's your chauffeur?"

"He's on vacation."

Even if the chauffeur was off-duty, it shouldn't be Brett's turn to drive. Plus, she remembered Brett didn't like driving himself, thinking it was a waste of time. He'd rather be in the backseat reviewing documents.

Izabella was afraid of wasting his time and annoy him, so she quickly finished her breakfast, picked up her laptop and files, and put on her shoes at the entrance.

Brett went out first, driving the car up to the front door.

Izabella crouched down and got into the car.

There was no music in the car and no conversation, just the sound of their breaths. Izabella and Brett had rarely been together in such a peaceful and quiet environment, their minds completely untroubled, with one simply driving and the other simply gazing at the passing scenery.

Over the past few months, her relationship with Brett had changed dramatically. Sometimes, when she woke up in the middle of the night and saw the man fast asleep next to her, she would wonder if she was dreaming.

Her current discomfort could only be attributed to the immense impact of Brett's horrible behavior during those four years. Some reactions were engraved in her bones, and just thinking about them sent shivers down her spine.

Brett turned on some soothing instrumental music.

He glanced at her serene side profile and swallowed.

Just as Izabella had thought, Brett didn't like driving. He had a private driver to take him around, but when he was with Izabella, he was willing to be the driver, enjoying their private time together.

It was just past 8:30 in the morning, and the sun had come out from behind the clouds, casting dazzling circles of light through the building's windows.

Brett parked the car in a temporary spot, just across the street from The Felton Group.

With a click, the car door unlocked, and Izabella got out, surprisingly softly thanking Brett.

"Let's have lunch together if you have time."

"I might not have time."

It was unclear whether she genuinely wouldn't have time, or if it was just an excuse. Brett remained silent, watching Izabella cross the street with her laptop bag before driving away.

Izabella had arranged to meet The Felton Group at nine o'clock, and she still had fifteen minutes to spare.

Liam had arrived early as well, so they went in together. After introducing themselves at the front desk, they were led inside, where they met President Felton just as they stepped out of the elevator.
