William's question jogged Joyce's memory. She recalled the incident he was referring to.
He had only been about seven or eight at the time. Donald had been involved with another woman, and she came to the house with her pregnancy test.
Joyce had that woman move into one of the Lewises' properties in the suburbs. She even arranged for people to take care of her.
But two weeks later, the woman had a miscarriage.
Back then, William had witnessed Joyce adding something to the woman's food to induce a miscarriage.
"What are you doing, Mom?" he had asked.
She hugged him and replied, "William, everyone in the world makes mistakes. Your dad made one this time. That baby shouldn't exist. Since it's doomed to a life of tragedy, it shouldn't even be born. I'm saving it!"
This incident occurred such a long time ago that even Joyce had forgotten all about it. She never thought William would still remember it. He even mimicked her actions as well!
The thought of that filled her with fear.

Tiffany spent the entire day attending job interviews. Once the last one ended, she got a call from Joyce.
Joyce asked if Tiffany could make the time to see her.
Sensing something from Joyce's tone, Tiffany agreed. After learning of Tiffany's current location, Joyce told Tiffany to wait there since she was in the vicinity.
Soon, her car pulled up in front of Tiffany. 15 minutes later, both women were seated in a fine-dining restaurant.
"Order anything you want, Tiff. It's on me," Joyce said. Although she was smiling, she looked like she had a lot on her mind.
