Wolf-less Omega Luna novel Chapter 8

“You still haven’t told me what happened to your wolf,” he said out of the blue after a comfortable moment of silence had passed between us.

My heart immediately skipped a beat at the thought of reliving those moments.

“You don’t have to, Alana, we can talk about it whenever you’re comfortable enough to share,” he caressed my cheek as he noticed the change in my expression. “Or never.” He added and I released a chuckle.

I breathed in a lung full of air to prepare me for the rollercoaster I was about to board.

“I was bullied a lot when I was growing up here. Mean kids picked on me for no reason at all and one day, I was beaten so much to the point where I passed out.” I paused and sniffed in an attempt to block the tears that threatened to fall.

Axel’s eyes were glazing over and his expression hardened as I narrated my ordeal.

“Go on, my love,” he urged through gritted teeth.

“I didn’t get any treatment. My wolf grew weaker and weaker till I couldn’t feel her anymore. I couldn’t hear her, I couldn't talk to her, and I couldn’t run with her.” My sniffles gave way to an outburst of tears.

I never mentioned any of it to anybody. I never even told the story out loud before. But telling it to Axel made me realize how much I had to go through, alone.

My wolf was broken, my soul too. My vision turned blurry as the transparent liquid dimmed my eyes.

Axle pulled me closer, wrapped his arms around my small frame, and locked me in a tight hug. His heavy breathing showed that he too was battling with his emotions. After I let out enough tears, he pulled away but his hands still lingered on me.

“I am sorry that you had to go through all of that alone, Alana. Nobody should have to.” He had more of a guilty than a sorry look.

“It’s not your fault, Axel,”

He tilted his head to lock eyes with me and his once dark eyes warmed up.

“What is your wolf’s name?”

“You mean what was her name?”

“No. She's not dead, just far away, and I promise to help you get her back. What's her name?”

I have never heard of a werewolf gaining their second form twice, but I guess it was possible. If there was anyone who could make it happen, it would be Axel. He made an empire out of a mediocre pack.

A warm feeling spread across my entire body. Gratitude? Joy? Something more? I wasn’t sure, but I wanted it to last forever.

“Rox. Her name is Rox.” I said slowly.

Just as I expected, the name rolled out of his mouth at once.

“Roxxx.” A grunt escaping his lips carried a buzz that melted on my skin and traveled through me till it settled somewhere in between my thighs.

I hurriedly perished whatever thoughts threatened to form in my mind, not wanting Axel to smell my arousal.

“Four cannot wait to meet her, and you too. The one time I turned in your presence, we didn’t get the pleasure of formalities.”

A warm laugh ricocheted between us.

“I cannot wait too.”

“Alana,” he inched closer to me and placed a palm over my thigh. “Things will never go back to how they were before. I can promise you the world and everything in it, but what I choose to give to you right now is my complete loyalty.” His eyes were now a piercing shade of blue. “I am yours from now on till death, and beyond.”

As I listened to him speak, all the questions I once had were replaced with hope, trust, and warmth.

Axel’s actions made me feel things — sensations in my core that took me to the clouds and back. — His words made me feel special, like I was the most beautiful and important person alive. Nobody else made me feel that way. And after the events of the last few days, why would I want to refuse to be loved by such perfection?

“Being the Luna of a pack requires a lot of qualities. I don’t think I have those. I cannot fight, and I cannot lead”

“I believe, Alana, that there’s nothing that you cannot do. You just have to set your mind to it.” His conviction about it was more reassuring than the words. “And besides, no great leader was made in a day. You can take it one step at a time and it’ll all fall into place. I’ll be by your side every step of the way.”

I nodded in response.

The steady tap of the drip and two hearts beating erratically were the only sounds that could be heard in the room.

“Thank you,” were the only words I could string together from my fuzzy brain.
