Wolf-less Omega Luna novel Chapter 9

Axel’s POV

It only took a few minutes after arriving at the omega quarters in search of Alana for things to go south. The marauders attacked again before we could recover from their previous attack.

Us being half-prepared gave them quite the advantage and was one of the reasons why they could make it deep into the pack without being stopped completely.

For the first time in as long as I could remember, I felt fear. Fear of what could happen to my mate as I couldn’t find her where she was supposed to be.

I acted with Four in full control, while the warriors defended the pack and moved the elderly and children to safety. I easily traced the calming scent of apples that her presence left in my room and it led me to the dungeon to find her almost lifeless on the floor.

Four was wild.

Nobody touches what's ours. I will rip whoever did this to her to pieces and feed their flesh to them. I recalled him saying.

Whoever or whatever hurt her made my blood boil. I felt the urge to protect her from them, and the attack. Nothing could happen to my precious mate.

“Do you always have this scary look on?” Alana’s flawless voice sliced through me like a double-edged sword, sending shivers of pleasure to my gut.

“What look?”

“The one that can make babies cry.”

“That’s not true,” I responded, realizing that my thoughts had made a scowl crawl up my face.

“You were glaring,” she said matter of factly.

“That was not a glare,” I defended.

“Care to share what it was?”

“It was…” I tsked, “…a pout.”

She only shook her head and a laugh reverberated, making her feminine features more prominent.

Being with Alana was one of the only good things that came out of the whirlwind of events that happened within the last few days.

My mind drifted to the kiss we shared after she accepted our bond. She eagerly parted her lips for me, granting me more access to her. I gave into my primal urges for more of her divine taste and deepened the kiss, allowing my hands to travel all over her body, from her soft silky hair to her tender skin.

A bulge strained in my pants at the thought of her palm and delicate fingernails on my chest, digging into it. I couldn’t stop even if I wanted to. The soft moan that escaped her mouth into mine as we worked tongues doubled my bulge.

I wanted her every day for the rest of my life, and the thought of it brought a fresh wave of heat to my body.

A knock on the clinic door pulled me from my torturous daze and I turned my gaze to Alana who slowly lifted her eyelids to pronounce her eyes.

Alana’s eyes were almost unreal to me. Warm violet eyes that I wished to stare at all day long. It made my cock twitch uncomfortably.

“Alpha,” Tyler greeted as he strode in and gave a curt nod to me and a wink.

Who the fu*k winked in this era?

He most definitely caught the scent of my arousal.

A pack cook who strolled behind him with a trolley containing lunch gave her respect and showed herself out.

I remembered Alana’s surprised look when I mentioned her choosing what she wanted for lunch. It was both cute and disheartening.

She had been through so much, and I had been oblivious to it in a pack that I struggled to build for the comfort of my people.

Tyler turned to Alana, and somewhat of a shocked look which only lasted for a millisecond crossed his face and was quickly replaced with a smile.

What was with the look? I mindlinked him.

Nothing, Alpha. He replied almost too quickly.

He knew something and he wasn't sharing. I decided to drop it for later.

“And you must be the Luna Axel hasn’t stopped talking about for the last few days. It’s nice to finally meet you, Luna Alana,” he addressed Alana.

“Quiet!” I barked at Tyler’s comment.

Alana’s face turned a shade of pink in embarrassment. Every little action from her warmed my insides more and more.

“It’s nice to meet you too, Beta Tyler,” her words carried a melody that was music to me. “I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the formalities, so please call me Alana,” she said with a small laugh.

Her stomach growled, probably at the sight of food and that was Tyler’s cue to go.

Let her be, you dummy. You’ve done what I asked, so leave before I wipe that smug look off your face.
She’s a real beauty, this one, Axel.

An annoyed grunt rippled in my chest and my nostrils flared at his joke.

“Alpha, I will leave you and the Luna now, and hold the fort while you’re busy. It’s long overdue.” This guy was trying hard to get on my nerves.

Being best friends with Tyler had to be one of my biggest regrets of all time. He took it upon himself to ruffle me whenever he could and this was a perfect opportunity.

“Tyler,”

“Alpha.”

“Prepare a meeting with the Alphas of the north to hold within the next week. We have to discuss these recent attacks. There is more to it than meets the eye.”

“Yes, Alpha.”

Tyler could joke around whenever he wanted, but when it came down to pack business, he took it more seriously than anyone else. He was one of my most loyal companions, loyal to a fault.

The attacks from Alistair and his rogues had become too frequent. The last time they attacked, four pack members were killed, and they were bound to attack again because the look in Alistair’s eyes was one of death. He wasn’t scared to kill or be killed.

I had my suspicions about who was really behind it, but I wanted the other Alphas present to air their opinions, especially those who had been attacked too.

I had to put an end to it for the sake of my pack, and Alana, my precious mate. I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if anything happened to her.

As Tyler stepped outside, I could feel Alana salivating over the food that was before us.

“Go on, Desrest, what would you like to try first?”

“I’m confused. I really am,” she said and threw her tender hands on her head.

“Dramatic much?” I said and released a chuckle at her cuteness.

She looked up at me and laughed. “Pick something for me. I trust your decision.”

I shouldn’t have taken it too seriously, but I liked it when she said that.

“We can start with the smoothies, and then this.”
