You Complete Me novel (Skylar and Coralie) novel Chapter 164

How far could she go?

In fact, Coralie Chariott herself didn't know. She lacked working experience and she had forgotten most of her French.

However, her family background was the gap between her and Skylar Holland. If she could close the gap by working hard, she would be very much willing to do so.

Anthony Holland sensed Coralie's hesitation and said, "I'll give you three days to think about it. Give me an answer after three days."

......

After Anthony left, Coralie left the warehouse to look for someone to discuss this matter.

She did not have any friends who were an expert in career matters. Therefore, she had no choice but to meet Xenia Lowell. It was not because Xenia knew much about developing one's career, but because her family was running a company. Perhaps, she might know something about upskilling an employee.

Xenia's new office was in a high-end office building in the city center, but she would get off work later than usual.

Since Coralie had arrived ahead of schedule, she wandered around the shopping mall that was next to Xenia's office.

When she saw a men's clothing store, Coralie remembered that Skylar's birthday was in a few days.

She didn't prepare any gifts for Skylar last year. At that time, she had promised to give him one this year.

When Coralie walked in, a beautiful shop assistant came over and greeted her with a smile, "Welcome, may I help you?"

“I'm just looking around."

In fact, Coralie didn't know what she wanted to buy for Skylar. She used to give gifts to Skylar when they were in school. But now, she thought that those were just childish gifts.

In the past, she had only bought a few simple gifts for Howard Schultz due to her economic circumstances.

Thinking about it, it seemed that she had never given a decent gift to a man.

The shop assistant followed Coralie around and introduced, "May I ask how old is the person you're shopping for? Is he your husband? Father?"

Coralie thought for a moment and answered, "Husband..."

Even though she and Skylar had such an unclear relationship, they were still legally husband and wife. After all, they hadn't obtained their divorce certificate yet.

"For your husband? Do you have a budget in mind? We sell belts, ties, wallets, and even key cases for a cheaper option."

The shop assistant kept introducing their merchandise and then brought various products for Coralie to choose from. The price varied from hundreds to thousands.

Nothing seemed to catch her eye.

Until her eyes fell on a pair of cufflinks that were on the counter.

"That is..."

Coralie pointed to the pair of cufflinks. She remembered that Skylar used cufflinks all the time, but the styles were almost the same most of the time.

The pair of cufflinks were in his favorite shade of blue. They were rectangular, and there was a small diamond in the corner. The style was simple and elegant.

"This is our classic cufflinks, and they are encrusted with sapphire."

"How much is it?"

In fact, that was what Coralie was most concerned about.

When she heard that it was encrusted with sapphire, her heart had already sunk.

"5,800 dollars for a pair."

"Is there any wiggle room on that price?"

The shop assistant put the pair of cufflinks in front of her, and Coralie liked them very much. She was sure that Skylar would definitely appreciate them too.

However, Coralie gasped after hearing its price. Five thousand and eight hundred dollars. It cost more than her one-month salary.

"I’m sorry, we aren't able to give a discount on this item. This pair of cufflinks is a limited edition. This is the only pair in the store, and they have just arrived."

The shop assistant stood aside and explained.

Coralie reached into her bag and stroked the black card which Skylar had given to her. In fact, she had not much money left. She could only buy it with the card.
