"Oh," the doctor replied.
Since Skylar hadn't informed them anything about visitors, it was unsurprising that the doctor would brush it off.
However, no one had come to visit Skylar in the past few days.
Valerie went back to her room to pick her things up and leave, but she received a phone call from Lillian halfway.
"Valerie, did you meet Skylar?"
Lillian asked expectantly.
Lillian was different from Valerie. She didn't think that it was a grave issue that her son couldn't control his lower part of body anymore. She even felt that she was helping Valerie.
"Auntie Ford..." Valerie said into the phone and was in a fit of anger. She couldn't help saying, "Why didn't you tell me that Skylar is now... paralyzed..."
Valerie struggled for her choice of words for a long time, but she still uttered the word "paralyzed".
How could she accept that Skylar was paralyzed?
When Lillian heard Valerie's words, she grew irritated at once. "What, paralyzed? It is only temporary. The doctor has said that he will be able to recover after rehabilitation."
"Uhm, Auntie Ford, I didn't mean that."
Valerie veered the subject when she heard the palpable tone of displeasure from Lillian on the phone. She knew that she had said something inexcusable.
"Valerie, you won't look down on my son, will you?" Lilian asked.
Lillian was not naive. She understood the meaning underlying Valerie's words.
She had always felt that it was an honor for Valerie that she tried to match Skylar with her, but now it was obvious that Valerie was depreciating Skylar!
"No, no, Auntie Ford, it's just that it hadn't crossed my mind. I only asked it casually. I have just arrived and I'm going to see Skylar now."
Valerie hastened to pacify her.
However, she still didn't feel good.
"Fine." Lillian spoke with dissatisfaction, "Valerie, don't you know the status of Skylar in A City? If he didn't turn this way, would he like you? Do you know how many ladies are longing to marry him? If you don't put in some effort, why should my son choose you? Am I right?"
Lilian was still holding her head up high.
"Yes, yes, Auntie Ford. You're right."
Valerie replied submissively.
She felt that Lillian's words made sense too.
On Jasper's side, Amenda's personality was much more obnoxious than Lillian's. It was also difficult for her to marry into the Zac family. It was better to try Skylar's side first. If she succeeded, and with the financial resources of the Holland family, they would definitely find a way to cure Skylar.
She hung up the phone.
Valerie calmed herself down, went downstairs, and walked to the rehabilitation room.
She stood there and watched Skylar painstakingly work on his rehabilitation under the guidance of the doctor. She felt absolutely nothing when she was watching it. Her past feelings for Skylar had disappeared ever since she knew the fact that he was disabled and couldn't have s*x with her.
However, she still mustered her sentiment before pushing the door open and entered. Tears were welling up in her eyes when she saw Skylar.
"Skylar, why didn't you tell me what happened to you? It was your mom who told me about it."
Valerie walked forward as she spoke.
Skylar was focused on rehabilitation. When he turned his head and saw Valerie coming in, his expressions transformed into one full of wrath in the blink of an eye. He bellowed, "Who let you in?!! Get out!"
Skylar had always appeared in front of everyone in his best state; he had always been high and mighty. The reason why he didn't tell anyone about this incident was that his pride didn't allow him to do so.
However, now Valerie appeared in front of him. Although she looked like she was going to cry, what Skylar felt was only fury.
Valerie didn't expect that Skylar would react like this. When she heard his roar, she stood still and was stunned.
"Skylar, I..." She opened her mouth.
"Get out. Who asked you to come? Do you want to die?"
