James walked out of the spotlight and headed to where Amelia stood. Her eyes were glued on him like she had never seen him before.
He got closer to her and slowed down. He swallowed hard and stood in front of her.
“Can you give me another chance?” James asked with his face so close to hers.
Amelia gulped and looked around to see that people had shifted their attention to the next person that was giving his speech.
“Why were you kissing her?” Amelia responded, and James smiled feebly.
‘At least she wants to talk to me now.’ He thought.
“Before I answer that question, please let me ask you another question. Can I?” He further asked.
Amelia exhaled softly and bounced her head. “What?”
“Do you still love me at all? Any little feelings? I promise to manage it.” He uttered, and Amelia lowered her head.
James’ eyes widened in fear as he stared at her. ‘What is taking her so long to respond? She doesn’t love me anyhow? Is this because of Elena or Fred? Is that how quick feelings die?’
James’ head became heavy with thoughts.
Soon, his phone began to vibrate in his pockets, and it jolted him out of his thoughts.
“Excuse me, please.” He said to her and answered the call.
Amelia looked to her right and saw Helen staring at them. She could tell what she was trying to say with her eyes.
‘She wants me to act cool with him? But I don’t know what went wrong, he has yet to explain to me.’ Amelia thought, and she looked away.
“Thank you.” James answered and hung up the call.
“You want to know what happened between Elena and I, right?”
“I asked you, didn’t I?” Elena replied.
“Fine. Then come with me. We have to leave now. It’s better you see for yourself.”
Amelia furrowed her brows and looked at his face. “See? What are you talking about?” She sounded confused.
“You’ll understand when we get there.”
He reached for her hand and held it in his. Luckily for him, she didn’t hide her hand from his this time.
Her hand felt so soft and smooth, just like a baby's own. It made James miss her even more.
They walked out of the mansion and headed to the car. While they walked, Freddie ran out to catch up with Amelia.
“Amelia! Amelia!…” He called, making Amelia halt.
“Uncle!” She called and ran back to where he was in excitement. She threw her arms around him and embraced him tightly.
“I didn’t know you were around.” She added.
“Well, you seemed too busy to notice your father. What should I do?”
“Of course, not, uncle. Don’t say it like that. I planned on paying you a visit on Saturday. I missed you so much.”
She broke the hug and moved back to see his face.
“I missed you too. I thought you totally forgot about me because of your husband.”
He looked at James above her shoulder, and James smiled and gave a slight bow to show his greetings.
“I will never forget you, Uncle. I just got pretty busy at the office. But I promise to show up this Saturday, okay? I’ll spend almost the whole day with you!”
“I can’t wait, Amelia! Lest I forget, I must say this…” He moved closer to her and whispered in her ear.
“You are looking super hot.” He said, and Amelia chuckled shyly.
“Thank you, Uncle. Your suit isn’t bad either.”
“Of course, it isn’t. You should get going now. Your husband seems to be in a hurry.”
Amelia turned to look at James who was waiting at the car door already. She nodded and waved at Freddie.
“See you on Saturday!” She said and kept waving at him until she sat in the car. It was much easier because James helped her get the door.
They drove away from the compound in no time.

James pulled up in front of Amelia’s further apartment, making her crease her brows.
“Why are we here?” She asked and turned to look at James.
“I’m here to give you the honest answers you seek, Amelia. We are here to see Elena, not just Elena, but the man that tried to sleep with you after she drugged you.”
“What?” Her eyes popped wide open. “Why? What does that have to do with this?!”
“Everything, Amelia. Can you please trust me and ask less questions.” He said, and Amelia swallowed hard and reluctantly bobbed.
They headed to the top floor where Elena’s room was. Getting to her apartment, the door was wide open. James knew it was the work of his men.
Amelia looked at the door in terror and confusion. ‘Why is her door wide open?’
James walked majestically into the apartment, and right there in the living room was Elena and her partner, sitting on the couch. In front of them were two of James’ men.
Amelia walked into the apartment too and got more lost after seeing how they all looked at each other.
The face of Elena’s partner was all swollen due to the beating James’ men gave him. They had to do that to him before he showed all the places he hid the clip.
