‘’My Beta and wolf has turned their back against me to support a total stranger.’’ I asserted with a chuckle as I went through some files on my desk.

‘’It is nothing like that. We understand that you are angry and honestly you have every right to be. We are talking about the man who deprives you of your childhood happiness. Vengeance has been taken, you should not take it on the daughter who has done nothing wrong to you. She is your mate, remember?’’

‘’I said this before and I am still going to repeat myself because I know that Jace can hear me. I do not care if she is my mate or even, the daughter of the goddess. I am not accepting her into my life for any reason. She is nothing but a prisoner to me.’’ I deadpanned, hoping that he would finally drop the topic.

‘’Can’t you see that you are doing the same thing that her father did when he was still alive?’’ he questioned me and I furrowed my brow in confusion.

‘’I do not understand, what exactly did he do?’’

I was intrigued to know but then, the painful flashbacks of my parents death flooded my mind again and it eliminated every form of concern that I had for that girl.

‘’I don’t even want to know anymore.’’ I added.

He ignored me and began his story, ‘’On the day of the feast, I overheard some of her pack members discussing how she has lived a bitter life from childhood after the death of her mother. Her father turned against her and abused her. He allowed his members to treat her like she was less than an omega. She hasn’t recovered from the trauma but you did her a favor by taking away the major source of pain in her life. You really shouldn’t add to it, Alpha Parker. She’s a very nice girl who just needs love and care, something that she has always lacked.’’

The story still did not bring any form of sympathy from my side, it wasn’t my fault that she had to go through such misery. It was bound to happen after all, her father was a beast.

I sneered, ‘’That is so unfortunate but still not my business. Yes, her father is dead. She should be happy about it and shouldn’t expect any more kindness from me but she would be disappointed, for sure.’’

‘’So, you are going to reject her?’’ he inquired.

‘’I plan do so in the future after making her suffer for a while.’’ I revealed with a smirk.

He shook his head, ‘’You know that it's not worth it, right? You would be hurting yourself in the process, the mate bond is way stronger than you think.’’

I totally ignored the words that he just told me and continued talking, ‘’Audrey would be heartbroken if I chose my enemy over her. The goddess only sent this girl, my way to find out if I had learned my lesson or still foolish enough to trust my enemy.’’

‘’When is she coming back?’’ he asked as if he actually cared about her.

‘’Next week.’’ I replied.
