Chapter 3
Alexa heard the anxious yelp of her mother running towards her brother. Marcus made painful grunts holding his head. "Mom that bloody bitch hit me." He pointed his finger towards Alexa. "She should learn her lesson. Catch her." Marcus shouted in pain to Catherine holding his head as Alexa sprinted towards the door. For a moment everything stopped working in her mind. "I am not a killer." Her guiltless soul thundered. Alexa looked at Catherine with fear stricken eyes hoping to give her an explanation that she was innocent but a moment later felt against it.-
Catherine eyes instilled fire as she approached Alexa with reproachable steps. Run Alexa run...this is an opportunity now or never....you need to live if not for you but for your father. It was her sanity that screamed to her in time and then Alexa took to her legs like a frightened deer. Nonplussed by their own abilities her feet walloped into the path like a robot running a marathon. For a little distance she heard the shouts of her mother pulsating and yelling behind her to stop but Alexa knew better.
If she stops she was going to die.
To an unknown quest Alexa went racing. It was already the time of dawn and Alexa continued on her feet till the time of dusk. Her feet screamed urging her to stop for the ache they suffered but Alexa felt like there was an unknown power ruling her, a voice that kept repeating in her head that she was yet to reach her destination until she reached the footsteps of a forest.
The Sun was slowly setting from the west. The birds were flying back to their nests and the sky appeared in the strange colour of orange. Alexa's intuition said something appalling was about to happen. Fear began to envelope her. So many questions were snapping in her mind. What was she going to do now? Where will she stay? How would she look after her father? He was going to die in the witch's den without her. No sooner the thought came into her mind her heart began to thud in terror.
As she looked around in panic she found a hustle between the trees. It was darker now and she was already at the footsteps of forest. This was the time the most dangerous animals like lions and wolves came out for hunting their prey. Oh God! How did I land myself here? Alexa panicked and the jostle between the trees increased.
Suddenly from the midst of two huge branches of banyan trees jumped a handsome young man to the ground. He was tall, personable and charismatic dressed in black pants and a white shirt. His shirt sleeves were folded below his elbows and muscles bulged out. He had a perfect tan skin and a six pack. The plain white shirt he was putting on was doing little justice from exposing his sexy body.
Alexa licked her lips unknowingly occupied in desire from the beautiful vision in front of her. She never developed these sorts of feelings for any man till date and felt weird why it happened now. She was attracted to him and it was confirmed. Who was this man? Why was he in the forest in this late an hour? Could he be of any help to her, at least in helping with a shelter for today's night? Anticipation warred with her tensed thoughts.
Alexa's feet ached and her stomach rumbled for want of food. The clothes she was putting on were not providing her comfort from the dropping temperature in the habitat. Suddenly she became conscious in what she was wearing as she stole looks at the hero. Her attire was nothing but a rag and why wouldn't it be? Alexa couldn't buy a single pair of clothes from the last four years. Thanks to her small built. She could still use the garments long back her father bought during her seventh grade.
