In the dead of night, the slum was a chaotic mess, filthy and far from silent.
From a distance, it resembled a colossal junkyard, a fusion of stench and murkiness, housing countless souls fighting for survival.
Eileen was carefully led through these sin-breeding streets by a few homeless guys, passing shadows hunched in the darkness.
Dressed in rags or bearing scarred faces, these were the homeless, the street-dwellers without a roof over their heads.
It was rare to find anyone with a spark left in their eyes in the slums. Even the kids looked different from those elsewhere.
One of the homeless glanced back, noticing that Eileen, with her clean Asian appearance, didn't seem out of place or frightened by the slums.
Mixed with the already foul air were the scents of alcohol and weed.
A bruised and battered homeless man pointed ahead, his voice trembling, "It's just up ahead…"
Eileen continued forward, undistracted.
Suddenly, a shadowy figure, a kid, lunged at Eileen, aiming a concealed knife at her belly.
The homeless men held their breath.
The kid thought he had an easy target, especially a woman, who he presumed would be soft-hearted and physically weaker.
A shrill scream pierced the air.
Eileen grabbed the kid by his collar, one hand swiftly taking his knife and threatening him with it, only to throw him into a pile of garbage without harming him. The knife, however, flew past his head, embedding itself into a wooden pole just inches from his scalp, leaving him terrified but unharmed.
Minutes later, Eileen arrived at a relatively clean yard, as one of the homeless men nervously mentioned, "This is where Maloney lives."
Eileen simply gestured to knock on the door, but the homeless men were too scared, knowing Maloney's ruthless reputation.
Without hesitation, Eileen kicked down the iron gate, triggering a loud alarm that stirred the entire slum.
Armed men rushed out, surrounding Eileen, with Maloney, a bald man with a long scar from his eyebrow to his jaw, chewing tobacco and revealing his dark, stained teeth, leading them.
He underestimated Eileen, attempting to draw a gun on her, but she swiftly disarmed him, aiming the gun at his bald head, silencing the area.
Maloney, now a hostage, revealed his fear and desperation, begging for mercy and explaining his betrayal of the Bloodbane Shadowsociety due to the loss of his son and his vengeful acts.
Eileen, with a hint of mockery, offered him a chance, leaving Maloney and his gang in a state of shock and fear, realizing the power and ruthlessness of the mysterious organization Eileen represented.
