Gorgeous Couple’s Sweet Love novel Chapter 6

Mr. Dunn was an extremely sarcastic person. He paused for a moment and said in a low voice, "Moreover, you are hitting your own wife on behalf of your mistress. Steve, am I right? You're not a man indeed."

"Who are you?" Steve frowned. He tried to withdraw his hand from Mr. Dunn's grasp but couldn't, no matter how hard he tried. He said fiercely, "Whether I am a man or not, my wife knows that the best. It's none of your business!"

"Oh, your wife knows that the best?" Mr. Dunn lowered his head to look at me. Flustered, I look away to avoid his gaze.

Mr. Dunn was looking at me with such a profound and focused gaze that it was as though I was the only person left in the world.

He was looking at me with such a profound and focused gaze that for a fleeting moment, I thought that he was in love with me.

He let go of Steve's wrist. He then grabbed a piece of tissue from the table and spent a very long time wiping his hand. He seemed to find Steve extremely dirty.

Steve's expression turned dark, and he asked,

"Who on earth are you?"

Mr. Dunn said indifferently, "Since you're interested in my identity, why didn't you ask me that from the very beginning? Could it be that you're afraid of me?"

That was right!

Absolutely right!

Steve was afraid of him. Yes. Even though Steve had never met him, I was certain that Steve was afraid of him.

Steve kept avoiding Mr. Dunn's gaze, and he didn't even dare to question me regarding who Mr. Dunn. I knew Steve well enough to know that every time he reacted this way, it meant that he was afraid.

But why was he afraid of Mr. Dunn?

"Heh. Afraid of you?" Steve let out a cold snort. He then glared at me. "Emma Shears, no matter what you're thinking about, I'll never agree. Unless... Unless you agree to leave our marriage with nothing!"

This man was utterly shameless indeed!

Steve left together with Charlotte. I raised my head to glance at Mr. Dunn and fled the restaurant too.

It shouldn't matter that I had embarrassed myself in front of Mr. Dunn. But for some reason, I was upset about it.

It was probably because he was such an excellent man who had suddenly appeared in my life. I hated the fact that I met him under such horrible circumstances. He probably had a bad impression of me.

Moreover, Steve's actions really broke my heart. Even though I tried to comfort myself again and again, I was still feeling utterly heartbroken.

This was the man I chose to marry!

An extremely irresponsible man who didn't find any problem with cheating at all!

The pain of being betrayed was hard to ignore, and the hurt Steve had brought me felt so real!

Meeting him was the worst thing that had ever happened to me!

I ran out of the restaurant. It was still snowing, and only when the cold invaded my bones did I realize that emotional pain didn't make me invincible from the cold.

I was still able to feel things.

"Miss Shears, are you feeling upset?"

A deep, powerful, soothing voice rang out from behind me.

I turned around abruptly and retorted even though my eyes were welling up with tears. "I'm not upset. But Mr. Dunn, why did you follow me out?"

He did not answer my question. Instead, he said indifferently, "Miss Shears, you look really ugly when you cry."

"Nonsense. I'm not crying!"

"Your heart tells me that you're crying."

This sentence broke down the layer after layer of defenses that I had built around my heart throughout the years, and I started crying like a baby. I really didn't know what to do about my life.

I have only met Mr. Dunn a few times, but he knew that I was feeling upset. Even my so-called husband and mother never cared about how I felt. They had never asked me if I was doing fine.

I was not doing fine. I was not doing fine at all. My world had collapsed, and this was the lowest I had ever been in my life.

But apart from Mr. Dunn, no one was willing to give me a hand.

Even so, Mr. Dunn was nothing but a passerby in my life.

"Miss Shears, you look really ugly when you cry."

I retorted again. "Nonsense. I'm not crying!"

Mr. Dunn didn't bother arguing with me about it. He put his hands in his coat pockets and waited for me by the roadside.

He was waiting for me to finish crying.

After I wailed like a madwoman for a short while, I realized that passersby were giving me strange looks. I quickly took out a tissue from my handbag and wiped my face dry.

After I composed myself, I asked, "Mr. Dunn, since you've followed me out, I guess you have something to say to me?"

"When we were talking back then, we got interrupted by some annoying people. I wasn't able to tell you what's on my mind, but I ended up watching a good show," he said flatly and indifferently.

He emanated an extremely enigmatic aura, and he was able to remain calm no matter what kind of situation he was in, watching the world around him with wisdom.
