Gorgeous Couple’s Sweet Love novel Chapter 70

September explained, "At the party that day, Bob said that he thought Sean looked familiar. He said that he went to the police station in City B to bail a woman whose surname was Heaney, and Bob just told me that he could be sure that woman was Victoria."

I turned to look at Benjamin, who was quietly looking at me, and said softly to September, "I'll come to see you later. I'll hang up first."

I put my cell phone back into my pocket and smiled at Benjamin, saying, "I have a mission in the afternoon, take Ellis back."

I thought for a moment and asked, "Can you cook for me tonight?"

Benjamin's warm hand held on to mine. He looked at me with his eyes narrowed and asked in a lazy tone, "Do you want to eat the food cooked by me?"

"Is that all right?" I asked in a fawning tone.

Benjamin said generously, "Alright, then."

In fact, Benjamin was easy-going. As long as I did what he wanted, he would always grant my wishes.

Benjamin came to my office and took Ellis away. After they left, I couldn't hold back my curiosity and immediately went to September.

When I arrived, I saw Bob lying on the sofa of September's office and playing with his cell phone. I sat beside him and asked, "What did you notice?"

Bob was still looking at his phone as he said, "Victoria was DUI and ran someone over. That person is still in a coma, but because she had a positive attitude and the victim's family didn't want to press charges, it was dealt with as an accident."

"And then?" I asked.

"Here comes the twist." Bob put down his phone and cleared his throat. "I might believe that Victoria was really DUI, but Maguire also hit someone with a car, but that one was not so lucky. The dude he hit died. If you say that was an accident, alright, I can still make my peace with that. But how are you gonna explain that the driver of the Heaney family also hit a man? That driver disappeared out of thin air after that. I couldn't find a trace of him."

I asked in shock, "You mean there's something fishy going on with the Heaney family, and Victoria is the key figure in this case?"

September shook her head and said, "I'm not sure if she's the key. After all, everything she did is with the Heaney family's permission. Maybe she's just a pawn."

"Then what are you going to do?" I asked September.

"What can I do? Of course, I'm in charge of this case. If Victoria is guilty, I'll definitely find a way to make her pay." September's lips curled up coldly. "She likes threatening me, didn't she? Didn't she say that she would get me to lose my job? I'm gonna teach her a lesson this time and let her know when to talk and when to shut the f*ck up!"

Victoria and September really didn't get along.

Bob followed me back to the police station and reminded me, "You'd better keep an eye on that Victoria. It's hard to tell what he will do to you if you make her angry!"

"What can she do?" I said indifferently, "Victoria would not dare to do anything under the watch of Benjamin."

Bob teased, "You have confidence in him."

"There's something I want to ask you."

"What?" Bob raised his head and looked at the sky that was still raining worriedly. He said solemnly, "I will definitely tell you what I know.'

Do you know what kind of person Teresa Heaney is?" I've heard of her from many people, but I didn't have the slightest impression of her.

"I've met her before. She's a very elegant and beautiful woman. At the age of thirty-three, she still looks like a girl."

Bob pressed his brows together and said, "I've heard that Teresa has recently been trying to get a divorce. She's probably already done it."

Zack had mentioned it before. I walked to the steps of the police station and asked doubtfully, "What else do you know about her?"

From Bob's expressions, he seemed to be very familiar with her.

Bob nodded frankly and said, "I kept something from you this morning because I thought that since Ellis pretended not to know me, I'd do the same."

I was stunned. "What do you mean?"

"The Channing family used to live in the same courtyard as the Dunn and Heaney families. At that time, Zack lived in the courtyard with his father. I lived in New Zealand before I turned eighteen, so I didn't know them."

Bob paused and said, "Although I don't know anyone from the Dunn and Heaney families, Teresa and Ellis are exceptions."

I asked, "Do you want to explain how you met each other?"

"Of course, have some patience." Bob hooked his arm around my shoulder and said, "After getting married, Teresa often went to Zack. Even if he always coldly turned her down, she would still go over. Half a year ago, she brought Ellis to the Channing family. Since then, Zack no longer refused to let her in. Many times after she came, Ellis and I became familiar with each other. I like that boy very much, but I'm very curious why Ellis pretended not to know me this morning. What did he want?"

"How would I know?" Ellis knew Bob, but he pretended not to know him. And... at noon, Zack also seemed to be very familiar with him. I remembered that Ellis was a little nervous but still greeted Zack.

"What could a kid want?" Bob was suddenly enlightened. "He's probably just a little nervous after not seeing me for too long!"

That didn't seem like something Ellis would do.

In the afternoon, I received a letter. It was a letter from City B! I didn't have any friends in City B, so who sent this letter? I hesitated for a long time to open it, and it said, "Edith, after five years, how come you are back again? So this time, are you going to win or I?"

A few short sentences made me tremble uncontrollably. The person who wrote the letter knew I was Edith and he mentioned five years.

He said, "So this time, are you going to win or I?"

What did he mean?

Did he win five years ago?

And what did he win?

My mind suddenly became chaotic, and many strange faces appeared in my head, but finally disappeared without a trace.

In the end, there was only a beautiful face left.

Looking at the graceful handwriting, I was a little confused. Then I took this letter to Zack. He saw me and asked in a gentle tone, "What's up?"
