He Filled My Life novel Chapter 4

"Agnes, some people don't deserve your kindness," Adam said in a flat voice. He picked up a piece of fish and put it into Agnes's bowl. His voice was filled with gentleness and adoration. "I've picked out all the bones for you. Dig in."

Agnes beamed with delight and said, "Brother Adam is so nice. Thalia, I envy you for having such a good husband..."-

Adam looked at her and said, "Agnes, you're the only person who is worthy of my adoration."

His words were like a hand that clutched at Thalia Cloude's throat and suffocated her.

Indeed, he never hid his disdain for her. Thalia, his lawful wife, was not worthy of his attention at all!

Thalia suddenly stood up, and her chair fell back onto floor with a loud thud.

All eyes fell on her.

"Thalia, what's wrong with you?"

Agnes pretended to be frightened and held onto Adam's arm. Her facial expression was fearful, but there was slyness in her foxy eyes.

Mr. and Mrs. Cloude looked at Thalia with looks of reproach and warning. "Why are you standing up? Sit down and have your meal."

Meanwhile, her husband shot her a cold and grim glance. "Thalia Cloude, don't you try to start a fight!"

Thalia looked at these group of people before her. She felt as if she was a pathetic buffoon and a complete joke!

She took a deep breath, held back all the tears in her eyes, and growled, "Adam Matthews, if you want a divorce, come home with me now!"

Adam froze and said coldly, "Thalia Cloude, have you had enough?"

"Divorce? What divorce?" Agnes panicked and let go of Adam's arm. "Thalia, I'm sorry. I just can't help but get close to Brother Adam... Please don't get a divorce because of me..."

Thalia stared coldly at Agnes, who was in tears, and suddenly let out a chuckle.

Did everyone take Agnes' side and care for her just because she knows how to weaponize her tears?

Thalia refrained from showing her vulnerable side. The fragile expression on her face vanished. She moved her feet and slowly walked toward Adam.

"Adam, you have only one chance. I'll wait for you to come home."

Time passed, and the night grew.

In the living room, Thalia sat quietly on the sofa like a sculpture. She raised her stiff arm and looked at her wristwatch. It was already two o'clock in the morning.

She had been waiting for nearly ten hours, but Adam... still didn't come back.

Didn't he always want a divorce? She had agreed to divorce him. Why wasn't he willing to come home and have a proper talk with her?

Before the divorce, she just wanted to ask him why he had become the way he was. A long time ago, he used to treated her gently and lovingly...

Thalia looked at the bowl of noodles on the table, that she had carefully prepared for him. She then turned to look at the dark and quiet yard outside the house. The feeling of disappointment washed over her.

After a long while, she slowly got up, turned around, and prepared to head upstairs.

Suddenly, the rumble of the car engine came from the front yard of the mansion. The noise was loud and clear in the dead of night. Thalia thought that she was dreaming.

Thalia turned around abruptly. Her gaze traveled across the dark and met a pair of chillingly grim eyes.

The weigh in her heart instantly disappeared, and she was stunned. Then she immediately came to her senses and said happily, "Adam, you're back."

Adam stood at the door with a sombre aura around him. "What on earth are you trying to do?"

Thalia pretended not to notice his cold expression and smiled. "Adam, I have cooked some noodles for you. Please finish them, then we can talk, alright?"

She walked to the dining table and picked up a bowl of noodles. She froze for a moment and said, "The noodles are cold. I'm getting you another bowl."

She was about to walk toward the kitchen.
