His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire? novel Chapter 189

Seriously? Edith has managed to get her hands on a piece of jewelry even Ada, the top dog in the jewelry game, couldn't snag?

Glynnis was shocked but played it cool and complimented, "Wow, Edith, you're really something! If you can score Alea's jewelry, Ada will surely come back to us. That way, we can get back at Evadne and do Thaddeus a solid. Plus, it's gonna make you look like a hero in the Abernathy family. Your relationship with Thaddeus is bound to take a huge leap forward."

Edith laughed with joy, "So we must snatch this project from Evadne!"

Glynnis agreed verbally, but her mind was working on something else.

She didn't want to help Thaddeus out. They weren't exactly siblings. But this could be her moment to shine, and if she could snag the project lead from Thaddeus, she could really make a splash and impress her father, helping her mom's declining reputation.

And Edith was just the sidekick!

At this thought, Glynnis was thrilled. Her eyes sparkled with desire and her cheeks flushed.

"What a crap night! Thaddeus left halfway and my brother didn't show up. It's just terrible! I'm going to cut ties with him!" Edith complained, starting to throw a tantrum.

"Edith, your brother did come tonight. He just left again," Glynnis said coldly.

"When?"

"When you were playing the piano. And not only that, he brought my little sister Marilla with him tonight. Thanks to Mr. Jareth's company, my sister had the time of her life and was in the limelight." Glynnis chuckled.

"Who? Your sister? That dimwit?"

Edith was shocked, unable to associate her brother with Marilla, that imbecile.

She knew Marilla very well.

They were classmates in a prestigious girls' school back in middle school.

"Edith, I'm facing a double whammy even before I set foot in the Fairhaven family." Glynnis sighed with frustration, her eyes filled with coldness, "Your brother might have feelings for my sister."

"What? That dimwit, she's worthy of Jareth?" Edith stood up in anger, knocking over her wine glass, her big eyes wide in disbelief.

Glynnis smirked internally but played the victim, "But you didn't see it tonight. Mr. Jareth was really gentle to my sister. He not only bought her a new dress but kept saying he only cares for her. I'm almost jealous to tears."

She thought with Jareth's laid-back personality, he wouldn't be genuine towards Marilla.

However, she chose this way to provoke Edith, wanting Edith to help her deal with Marilla, that cunning girl.

Upon hearing Glynnis's description, Edith felt her fiery anger cool down a bit.

Then, she sat back down, picked up her glass, and took a sip of wine. Her eyes flashed with a darkness that didn't match her age.

Jareth was her brother, and no one knew him better than she did.

Based on Glynnis's description, his attitude towards Marilla was indeed unusual.

This was impossible.

Back in school, she was the main bully towards Marilla, making her go through a tough period.

Even though many years had passed, she didn't think Marilla had forgiven her.

If Jareth really liked Marilla, even without the intention of marrying her, just being friendly, then Edith's past wrongdoings could be exposed, and Marilla might use Jareth to revenge on her.

After some consideration, Edith gritted her teeth and said coldly, "Don't worry, as long as I'm around, Marilla and my brother can't be together."

Meanwhile, at K World Hotel.

In a private room, there were ten dishes on the table, each a delicacy fit for a state banquet, the wine a rare vintage.
