***Six months later***
It's been six months since I met the mermaid I mean Anna whose real name is Kaira and so far life has been pretty great even though I still don't know what happened to her and how she ended up drowning in the river.
Everyone already found out I wasn't pregnant and luckily I didn't get married off because the chief died a day after our supposed marriage.
If I didn't run away and meet kaira then I'm pretty sure I would have been called a black widow because my mom died the first day I came into the world and my husband would have died the second day of our marriage.
Anyway five months ago me and Kaira left the village and was now living in the city.
It has been so much fun except for the fact that I have to work for everything!
A few months back Kaira and I had started a job as waitresses but we got fired a month later claiming that I was too lazy and that kaira was too heavily pregnant.
(Yes, the same day I meant her, I found out she was pregnant with threw babies.)
She was very sad when we got fired because she needed a lot of money to prepare for the babies' arrival and for the plane tickets but luckily for her, I sold my farm back at the village and gave her the money which she promised to return once she went back to America.
Mama had also given her money for the plane ticket so that she doesn't have to stress with looking for a job and also taking care of the babies.
"Mama can you watch the babies for a little while," Kaira said coming out of the bedroom checking her purse to see if she had everything she needed.
Me, mama and the twins Aleena and Aleeya ( my immediate elder sisters who were ten years older than me) were sitting in the living room watching TV.
They came to live with us a week before kaira went into labour so that they can help her with the babies since I had no idea on how to take care of a new born and kaira needed a lot of help.
"I forgot to buy diapers and baby bottles at the mall and I have to go there real quick." She said giving mama a pleading look.
She was preparing to go back home to her family and had to make sure she had everything needed for the long flight.
"Okay sure." Mama responded
"Thanks mama, Um Melissa can you accompany me? I don't want to feel bored all alone." She said to me.
"Sure let me go grab my shoes." I went to the bedroom which we shared and grabbed my shoes.
I had already taken a shower so no need of getting ready.
"Okay done now." I said to her and we both went to the mall.
It was already five p.m and by the time we left the mall, it was 7p.m. The streets were really dark and frightening.
"Yes mama we are on our way." Kaira said through the phone. I could tell mama was very worried because we never went back home late.
"Of course, don't worry we will be home in ten to fifteen minutes --- okay ---- bye." she said and cut the call.
"Let me guess, the babies are crying, right?" I asked and she chuckled.
"Yeah I guess we have to hurry, let's go this way we will reach there faster." she pointed at a deserted road that was surrounded by thick long bushes.
