Love's Redemption (Chris and Maddie) novel Chapter 392

I had no idea when the phone stopped ringing.

I just knew that when Brandon carried me from the bathroom to bed, all the bones in my body had turned to jelly.

I was so exhausted that I didn't even want to open my eyes. Nestled under the covers, I soon fell asleep.

"Take a nap. I'll make some potato soup for you," Brandon whispered in my ear.

I murmured a soft acknowledgment and drifted into slumber, but even in my half-asleep state, I kept hearing the phone ringing.

I didn't want to move, and I couldn't open my eyes. I groped around the bed, but the space beside me was empty.

"Brandon…" I called out for him.

Brandon hurried over and leaned down. "What's wrong?"

Without opening my eyes, I mumbled, "My phone is so noisy."

"What?" It seemed he didn't catch what I said.

"Phone. Noisy," I repeated.

Brandon didn't respond right away, but he spoke after a moment, "Mae, you're dreaming. Your phone isn't ringing. It's turned off."

Really? Then, what was that ringing I kept hearing?

I didn't say anything more and went back to sleep, only waking up much later.

When I opened my eyes, I saw Brandon sitting at the table opposite the bed deeply engrossed in sketching something. He was so focused that he didn't notice I was awake.

I sat up and realized he was drawing blueprints. So, it turned out that he had been working this whole time.

It was no wonder that Xander never scolded him for not showing up at the office. Brandon had quietly taken care of everything he needed to do.

I hesitated to disturb him seeing how focused he was, so I quietly got out of bed. But my movements still caught his attention.

He turned to see me up and immediately put down his pencil to come over. "Why didn't you call me?"
