Chadwick went back home to house lightheartedly. Geoffrey and he fixed their relationship. Although he’s worried about Isa, Chadwick decided to meddle in her life anymore.
Now, what’s left to do is to deal with Adira.
He excitedly entered the house as he heard from Neil and Hansel would come home to their house. Other than living with Adira in the same place, Chadwick thinks that his other advantage against Geoffrey is that he has the support of their secretaries.
‘The only hurdle is winning over my ex-wife’s heart.’
He realized how hard it is to win a favor from someone. Even if Adira doesn’t have feelings for him when she’s seducing him long time ago, Chadwick can tell how difficult the quest is.
‘Maybe, she’s trying to get her revenge and..’
His thoughts stopped when he saw his wife standing in front of him.
She’s really home.
“You’re quite late,” she greeted with a smile.
Being with her, his heart pounds with each breath, like a hummingbird’s wings.
‘Who cares if she’s testing me or taking her revenge? As long as I have a chance be show my love, I have no complaints.’
“I was a bit busy. But if you said it like that, does it mean that you’ve been waiting for me?”
Adira just smiled at her over confidence husband.
“Well, I got out of hospital. I remembered taking care of you after you got discharged. I am bit hungry.”
Chadwick swept his bangs upward as he chuckled, “So, you want me to cook for you?”
“At least, even though we’re divorced, the five months are still not over,” Adira answered.
With a sigh, Chadwick just nodded his head. “I will take care of you, that’s given.”
“Don’t worry. I can move my hands, so I don’t need you to pull my pants if I wanted to go to the toilet. I won’t fart too.”
His face went red all of a sudden. Just now, he remembered a very embarrassing moment from the past.
“H-Hey! You haven’t forgotten that?” he protested, blushing.
“You mean the smell of your fart?” she teased.
“You really…”
He tried to calm himself while pouting and thinking of a way to avenge. Immediately, Chadwick recalled the thing he saw inside Adira’s room. Slyly, a smirk twitched at the corner of his lips.
“There’s something that I won’t forget too,” he changed the topic.
Adira squinted her eyes as she waited.
“Yesterday, I went inside your room to clean a bit,” Chadwick started. “Then, I saw something.”
She tilted her head, wondering if she left any odd things inside her room.
To answer her silent question, Chadwick went inside her room.
Adira waited for him to come out and when he did, her eyes opened widely, they could not shut.
‘The lingerie.’
Adira, then, recalled the day when she bought a lot of sexy sleepwear from Ash, Mr. Canor’s daughter.
At first, she bought lingerie to seduce his husband. But this time, she had those just because she wanted to help Ash by buying her goods.
There is no other intention besides helping. However, Adira is aware that right now, Chadwick might misunderstand the situation. Fearing it might be the case, her blood rushes to the tips of her fingers. The pulse came in hot waves that caused everything else to pound.
“It wasn’t like that,” Adira answered. “I have no other intention.”
“Oh really~” Chadwick teased. “Didn’t you buy this for me to see?”
“Huh.”
Adira laughed sardonically.
“Why would I seduce my ex-husband?” she refuted, grinning. “Besides, you already fell in love with me. Two men are following me, so I don’t need to seduce anymore.”
“Wow,” Chadwick uttered, walking towards her with the bag of the lingerie. “What happened to the woman who said that she doesn’t want a messy love triangle?”
As her answer, she said, “Then, what happened to the man who said that he will never fall in love with me?”
“Ahhh, that man?” Chadwick answered. He hummed and answered, “He is a bastard who ate his words.”
“That is another way of saying that you do really love me so much.”
Chadwick licked the corner of his lips, before looking back at her lips. “Yeah, exactly.”
Slowly, Chadwick picked one of the lingerie in the bag. He got the white lace with almost no coverage in some parts of body.
“So, if you ever think of wearing this in front of me, I will welcome it with my open arms.”
Adira’s eyes went to the lingerie he was holding. And she flushed.
“I bought that just for fun,” she excused.
Chadwick shook his head, as if not believing her and then waved the lingerie in his hand.
Annoyed, Adira smirked and tried to get the lingerie from his hand. However, Chadwick held it higher.
Adira frowned. “What a childish grown-up man.”
“Don’t blame me,” he chuckled. “I lived with a childish grown-up woman for a long time. No doubts I became like this.”
“Give it back. I said it isn’t for you.”
“Sure, sure~ So, can you wear it for me?”
Adira tiptoed to get it, but Chadwick doesn’t have a plan to submit.
If she can get it by tiptoeing, Adira climbed on the sofa. She wrapped her arm around Chadwick’s neck, as if straggling him and grabbed the lingerie.
“Ack!” Chadwick groaned at the strangle. “W-Wait! I can’t breathe!” He tapped Adira’s arms, surrendering.
Laughing, Adira unwrapped her arm around his neck. But as soon as she did, Chadwick grabbed her waist and pulled her down.
“Oh!” she gasped.
All of sudden, her back leaned against the sofa and above her was Chadwick. He’s on her top, one hand around her waist and one on the back of her head.
“I really shouldn’t underestimate Adira’s ability to win,” Chadwick chuckled huskily.
Adira gulped while looking closely at his face. Swiftly, her eyes caught the ring on Chadwick’s finger in his left hand.
This is the second time she saw him wearing their wedding ring when he doesn’t have to. Her heart pounds like a drum in her chest, fast and hot in anticipation of something — anything. Didn’t she feel the same as this when she first saw the ring in his ring?
“Why are you wearing that?” she asked, calmly.
“Is there a reason for me not to wear it?”
This time she has the right to say yes. They divorced already. And even if they are still acting like a couple, there’s no one watching them as of now. However, Adira met his staring blue eyes, and stiffened blankly. She didn’t say anything and before she knew it, his face was so close.
Their foreheads touched and the breath between them was hot and fragrant.
Mint.
The scent of Chadwick which sometimes sends her in a daze.
Chadwick’s hand on her head went to her hair and he combed his fingers through her silky red hair. Suddenly, there was this tickling feeling that heightened into her chest.
His hand patted his ear, and his fingers touched the love and stroked the auricle. When he stroked the round shape and rubbed it as if wandering around the lobe, Adira’s lower body was tingling.
Even with a careful touch, goosebumps arose.
“I love you, Adira,” he whispered.
Their breaths mingled together, and their lips were hairs breadth away, the slightest move would be enough to join them together.
Adira parted her lips and half closed her eyes. She focused on his lips, his words, his breaths, and the pump in her heart.
“Even we’re not bound with promise yet, I will still continue to pursue you,” he whispered.
“Oh really?” she answered so short, with chuckles.
Chadwick nodded his head. He moved a bit and stared at her face. “But there are two things bugging at me.”
Adira tilted her head as she listened.
“One is that Geoffrey. He’s really persistent.”
She burst out laughing. “How can you consider a persona a ‘thing’?”
“And the second one,” he continued as if not hearing her complaints. “The conversation you two had at the CUR8 mall.”
Bit by bit, the corner of her lips drooped.
“He said that he asked you if you can like either one of us. And you answered that you think it is possible.”
She set her gaze aside, remembering the conversation. Yes. She remembered it. It was the time when her heart was wavering between two men.
“So, I inquired him who you can like between us. However, that bastard… I mean, that guy said that I should ask you directly. Because I am his competitor. Tsssk.”
As he clicked his tongue, he saw Adira chuckled at him.
“Why are you laughing at me?” he complained.
“Just. You are turning cute when you’re jealous.”
“Don’t tease me. I am serious.” As he said it, his eyes turned stern. “So, what did you answer to him?”
She lowered her gaze, as if thinking. “Before I answer your question, would you answer my question first?”
“Sure. Anything.”
She placed her hands on her chest, then laid her eyes back to his blue gaze.
“When I was so drunk and Geoffrey took me home, I woke up the next day on your bed.”
“...”
“That night, I had a dream. In my dream, you are laying down beside me. And then, we kissed.”
A dream that is not a dream.
For Chadwick, it was a fleeting moment he wouldn’t forget. But for Adira, it is just barely an illusion.
“Tell me honestly. Was it just a dream? Or reality?”
Chadwick lifted his eyes, and he held her gaze that somehow reassured her. Adira felt the connection in the pit of her stomach, a warm, coming-to-life tingle.
“No. It is not a dream,” he answered.
When was the time she realized her feelings for him?
Adira got the answer now.
She started to fall for him after dreaming about reality.
However, she won’t say it right away. Why should tell it? After all, Chadwick gave her a hard time. And to be honest, she’s enjoying being in this messy love triangle which she hated before.
“Then, I will tell you what I answered to Geoffrey,” she said.
“What is it?”
She packed her gaze with truth as if wanted to sear this moment into his brain.
“You and him. I think I can like you both,” she answered that made him stop. “I didn’t mean to be a two-timer. But I realized that the two of you can make my heart wavered. So, what should I do?” she said, grinning.
First, his lips parted closed. Then, he breathed sharply before his voice returned.
“Adira you… you are an evil woman.”
Adira burst out laughing. “You said the same response Geoffrey gave me.”
He also chuckled as he shook his head.
“I will enjoy this love triangle until I can choose. Two handsome men are fighting over me. Isn’t that exciting? And nostalgic?”
It is indeed a nostalgic experience. However, Chadwick would change the ending of the messy love triangle.
“Alright. “If that’s what you want,” he agreed.
“So, are you really willing to wait?” she asked.
He leaned closer and answered, “Of course. No matter how long this fight is, I will wait. I will.”
Adira laid a sweet smile on her lips. Then she said, “Even after 50 years?”
Chadwick’s smile vanished. He uttered, “Excuse me?”
A long push and pull love game between them continued.
There were times when they cried, laughed, fought, felt butterflies in their stomachs and CURSE. But no matter how long it will take, loving someone has never been late.
Age is just a number and emotionally, human’s heart doesn’t age.
However, of course, the messy love triangle didn’t go up to 50 more years.
Before the five months ended, Adira chose to remarry again.
