Edward furiously pushed away saplings out of his way as he raced through the forest. He tried to collect some sound waves and by putting the strings together, he was able to hear the direction of the sound.
At that moment, he began to recall the good times he had shared with Alpha Marcus. A lot of good memories kept streaming into his head causing him to increase his pace.
He had to save his brother as he might never be able to forgive himself if his brother eventually got killed by his enemies. He was still some miters away yet it seemed as if it was taking centuries to get there. The howling was decreasing and he just knew what it meant. Probably, Marcus must have given up.
Suddenly, he halted at a spot and narrowed his gaze to and fro. The place appeared deserted and hidden from other parts of the forest. It looked empty with no trees to form canopies overhead nor was the sun out to melt the frozen snow that settled everywhere. No wonder it was a bit difficult for him to easily locate there. He guessed the vampires had brought Alpha Marcus to this hidden part of the forest so that no one could save him. 'How cold this place is' he thought and shook his body for the snow to fall off his fur. His fur would always keep him warm in situations like this but what about the vampires? Those beings have no weather problem except for sunlight.
His gaze suddenly fell on a body that was lying motionlessly on the ground. He knew it was the Alpha Marcus, his body still in its normal form. What surprised Edward was the latter's body, it wasn't soaked in blood and nothing showed that he was beaten during a fight since he wasn't even transformed into a wolf yet. Edward then diverted his eyes and caught a glimpse of two Vampires: red eyed with fangs sprouting out from their mouth.
They began to retreat their steps as soon as they saw him coming. They actually felt a powerful and killing aura around them. His presence was giving off the darkness as an aura. They couldn't understand their own bodies, the way they had feared a mere Werewolf even more than the Alpha himself. This aura was supposed to emanate from the Alpha but yet it came from this ordinary werewolf.
They were just mere Drudge vampires sent on errands by the grand elders of the Volturi.
Drudge vampires were not as powerful as the bloodline vampires but a few of them acquired mystic powers the moment they were bitten by a vampire who had mysterious powers.
Edward was weakened as those sharp and painful groans escaped from Alpha Marcus's lips. He would have just smashed those two in a blink but he couldn't bear to hear him groan in pain. He shot his eyes at them one last time and they leaped away in fear. He was going to treat them to a meal after he had taken care of Alpha Marcus.
He quietly went to Alpha Marcus, hearts full of regrets and blame. He felt guilty for not being at the corner when he called for help. He had been protecting his brother always but how could he fail this once? Lifting him gingerly onto his back, he disappeared into the heart of western hosbon like a flash.
Whenever Edward got angry, he would run away to a desolate place where he goes berserk and destroyed things until he became satisfied. He would run as if he just transformed from a human to a Werewolf and then into a furious Cassowary but this minute was different. He ran breathlessly, only longing to reach the castle.
They arrived at a Cascade: aquarium-blue and filling the air in their space with goodness. They had some rest, only then did he notice that Alpha Marcus had already passed out. He increased his pace until an ancient castle came into view. The castle was tall like skyscrapers having over ten floors in it. It was fortified with thick metallic walls roundabout it. This fortification was meant to destroy any vampire that attempts to come into their territory.
"You should go have some rest." His mum said to him after he had narrated everything to her. Luciana was beautiful but the beauty disappeared the moment she saw her son. The worry and fear on her face was so obvious as she watched Alpha Marcus's cold body lay motionlessly on the bed.
"Now go and rest, my son." She said again. Edward was surprised she was nice to him but he couldn't put it in his thoughts. Not when Alpha Marcus lay there. She just had to say it to him even when she wasn't pleased and just wished he was the one that lay on the bed instead of her son. Each time she looked at him, she had the urge of breaking and crushing him so that he could feel the same pain that her son was feeling right now.
