My Darling, My Dearest novel Chapter 401

"No, thanks. I'll just rest here for a while."

Rachel pressed her hands on the table for support. She then slowly sat on the chair and leaned over the table.

'He just asked and left?' she thought. Based on Miss Li's words, she could only think of Jack.

But she wasn't sure why he came here all of a sudden.

At this time, Jack was in his car. His deep-set black eyes were full of fatigue. He pinched his glabella, leaned back, and closed his eyes. He wanted to have a rest for a while.

Yesterday, he called Mr. Chen and all the shareholders in his office. At that time, Austin threw some share purchase documents in front of them.

At first, they firmly refused to sign the share purchase agreements. But when Austin showed them the evidence of their collusion and the missing funds of the branch, they were left with no choice. After signing the documents, they could only stare at Jack with resentment.

Jack flicked the ash off his cigarette and sneered. "If we send the evidence to the business criminal investigation department, I'm afraid you will all be in prison."

Mr. Chen gritted his teeth and glared at him. "What do you want, Jack? Don't forget that we built this company with your father. In the rules of etiquette, you must all consider us as your uncles. Don't you think you're going too far?"

He was now trying to use the rules of etiquette to restrain Jack from making a move. Jack sneered disdainfully, "If I have forgotten about that, do you think I'd still keep the evidence until now?"

As his slender index finger lightly tapped the table, a cold killing intent flashed through his dark eyes. "For the sake of my father, I am giving you two choices. First, sell all your shares to me and leave MK Group for good. If you do that, I will forget everything that happened and erase all the records. Second..." He deliberately paused and laugh.

When the shareholders heard his cold laughter, they all broke into a cold sweat. They immediately took out their pens and signed the documents anxiously without saying a word.

Jack didn't want to waste more of his time talking to them. When he saw Austin collect the share purchase agreements and nod at him, he pointed at the door and said coldly, "Get out."

He thought that this matter was over. But he didn't expect that Mr. Chen would not give in that easily. Instead, he threatened him that he would look for Rachel to vent his anger on her.

So he rushed to the city where Rachel was that very night. When he heard that Rachel fine, he felt relieved.

After finding out that Jack came to see her, Rachel became absent-minded the whole afternoon.

"Miss Shen, are you okay?" A student who ran from behind stopped in front of her.

She smiled and replied, "I'm fine."

The student handed a book to her and said, "You dropped this book, but you didn't notice it."

Rachel looked down at her hands and found out that the book she was holding was gone.

She took it from the student and said shyly, "I was thinking about something just now, so I didn't notice it. Thank you for giving it back to me."

Looking at her pale face, the student got a little worried. He couldn't help asking, "Miss Shen, where are you going? Let me take you there."

"Thank you, but there's no need." She shook her head, but the student suddenly held her arm and said enthusiastically, "I'm actually heading to your office to ask you something. Let's go together then."

Rachel was thankful to the student. Aside from walking with her, he also kept talking, which made her forget about Jack.

But when she came out of the school after her class, she saw a familiar car with a plate number she knew very well. She was stunned, and her eyes became a little wet.

She looked away and forced herself to recall the topic she had just discussed with the student to divert her attention.

Without her knowing, Jack was staring at her through the windshield.

A gust of wind blew the scarf on her neck. She might have felt cold because she pulled her coat and tightened it on her body.

Jack frowned. In just a few days, she seemed to have lost a lot of weight. Her body didn't only look slimmer now but also weak.

His grip on the steering wheel tightened, and some blue veins stuck out at the back of his hands. He tried hard to resist the urge to get out of the car and hold her tightly in his arms. When he saw her hail a taxi, he immediately drove to follow her.

The taxi driver was already used to this kind of situation. His passenger looked gloomy, and he noticed from the rearview mirror that a black car had been tailing them since he picked her up from the school. He couldn't help asking with a smile, "Miss, did you and your husband fight?" Rachel was stunned because she didn't expect such a question to come from the driver.

But then she shook her head and answered, "No.

"Don't you know that car? It's been following us. " The driver pointed at the rearview mirror.

Although the reflection of the black car in the rearview mirror was small, she could see it clearly.

With a frown, she asked, "Has that car been following us all the time?"

"Yes. Since I picked you up from the school gate." The driver sounded complacent. Perhaps he thought he had guessed it right.
