Scarlett was afraid that her lies would be exposed, so she decided to find an excuse to escape halfway. But to her surprise, Jack's gentle voice rang in her ear. Stroking her hair gently, he asked, "Are you having a party with your friends?"
"Why are you here?" Scarlett was stunned, her mouth agape.
Jack looked at her with a faint smile. "I happened to pass by here. Is the party over? Come with me."
With a gentle smile, she nodded and followed him out obediently. Her eyes were full of expectation when she looked at him. "Jack, where are we going?"
He curled his lips as his eyes emitted a murderous aura. "Scarlett, what is Article 6 in our agreement?"
"I..." Scarlett stammered.
She was too scared to look at him as she could feel the killing intent in his eyes. She couldn't help trembling.
Indeed, she and Jack signed an agreement that they would pretend as a couple. However, it was stated in the agreement that they would only pretend in places that he chose. Other than those, they had nothing to do with each other. Article 6 in the agreement clearly stated that Scarlett was not allowed to say anything about their relationship in front of others.
Jack wanted to use this fake relationship to make Rachel jealous. He hoped that when she got jealous, she would finally realize her feelings for him. He wouldn't give Scarlett any chance to swagger around outside using this fake relationship.
He said coldly, "You seem to forget so soon. What did I tell you when we signed the agreement?"
"I know, I know."
Scarlett panicked. Her mind was busy thinking of an excuse. "Jack, they asked me about our photo in the newspaper. I just told them about it, nothing more."
Jack glanced at her coldly. "If I find out that you violate our agreement again, you won't like the consequences. Don't forget that."
He then turned around and left. Scarlett wanted to catch up with him, but she got too scared just now that her legs felt weak. After taking two steps forward, she knelt down on the ground.
Rachel had much leisure time in her work in the executive department. She had been sitting there the whole morning, with nothing to do. She stood up and went to the pantry to get a glass of water. She was on her way back to her office when one of her colleagues shouted, "Who is available? Can someone send these documents to the outpatient department? I'm really tired now."
But everyone lowered their heads, pretending to be busy with their own tasks. Obviously, they didn't want to be bothered.
Rachel stopped at her colleague's desk and smiled. "Give me the documents. I'll take them there for you."
Looking at her swollen belly, her colleague refused, "No, thanks. I'll just take these there later when I go to the canteen."
"It's okay. It won't cause me any trouble at all."
Rachel didn't offer to help out of kindness. She just wanted to walk a bit outside because she had been sitting on her desk for so long. Going to the outpatient department was a very good opportunity for her.
Her colleague hesitated for a while but eventually handed her the documents with a smile. "Thank you."
She put down the glass of water on her desk, took the documents, and slowly walked towards the outpatient department. While walking, she looked around. Seeing some nurses and doctors going to and fro busily, she suddenly missed her previous job. She had been wanting to go back to work as a doctor, but since she was pregnant, James and Jonathan didn't agree.
When she arrived at the outpatient department, she went to the nurse station. "Is Director Chen still busy? Please give him these documents later."
"Okay." The nurse took the documents from Rachel. But as soon as she recognized Rachel, her eyes widened in surprise.
Rachel couldn't help feeling uncomfortable. She touched her face subconsciously and asked, "Is something wrong with my face?"
The nurse shook her head vigorously. "No."
However, the expression in her eyes was strange. Rachel felt something odd, so as soon as she came out of the outpatient department, she took out her phone and called Celia. "Is there any gossip about me these days?"
She had worked in this hospital for quite a while before. People here loved gossip.
Celia was still sleeping when she received the phone call. In a daze, she replied, "Is it about Jack's photo in the newspaper? Don't worry. I've already made it clear to everyone."
"But when I went to the outpatient department today, I felt that the nurse looked at me strangely."
Rachel's attention was on her phone call that she didn't notice the woman coming towards her. As a result, she accidentally bumped into the woman. She was about to say sorry, but eventually changed her mind. She just passed by the woman and continued to walk forward.
The woman's shrill and arrogant voice was heard from behind, "Rachel Shen, you bumped into me, and yet you don't even greet me? How impolite you are!"
The voice was loud enough for Celia to hear it clearly. She asked curiously, "Rachel, who is that? Why does she sound so arrogant?"
"I don't know her. I have something to deal with now. Bye."
