Rachel was surprised to hear that Jared had agreed to sign the contract with Jimmy again. Did Jack change his mind?
She turned her head subconsciously and looked at the next room.
Jimmy waited for a long time, but Rachel didn't say anything, so he said, "Do you have something else to do? If you are busy now, I won't disturb you. I will just come to visit you next time to thank you in person."
"Okay." Rachel hung up in a hurry. She had to ask Jack to confirm her hunch.
Jack put the hammer down on the floor and rubbed his finger. He lowered his head to check on it, and he saw that it got blackened after being hit by the hammer just now. But when he heard some footsteps approaching, he hid his hand as if nothing had happened. Seeing Rachel at the door, he asked, "What's up?"
"Did you ask Jared to collaborate with Jimmy again?"
He was a little stunned. "You already know?" "Yes. Jimmy called and told me just now." "I got too impulsive before, and I know I was wrong. I just hope it didn't cause too much trouble for Jimmy. If you have some free time, please help me apologize to him."
His words made her feel a little confused. There was a surprised look on her face. After hesitating for a moment, she asked, "But why did you suddenly ask Jared to collaborate with Jimmy again?"
Although she asked, Rachel could already guess roughly the reason.
"Do you really want to know?" The expression on his face slightly changed. He pursed his lips and said, "I misunderstood your relationship with Jimmy before, so I made that impulse decision."
Her presumptions were correct, so Rachel didn't look surprised anymore. She was silent for a while before she spoke again. "So, do you understand me now?"
Jack was stunned for a moment. He then smiled and walked a few steps forward. Standing in front of her, he asked in a low voice, "Didn't you say before that we should trust each other?"
These few words from him were like an alarm that rang in her heart. She didn't expect that he would still remember what she had said before after all this time.
However, many things had already changed between them. To hide the emotions that welled up in her eyes, she lowered her eyes and said in a hurry, "I suddenly remember that I have something to do. I'll go back to my room now."
After so many sunny days, the rainy season had finally come. Rachel was in a taxi, looking out of the window and watching the rain. She checked the weather forecast on her phone, and it said that the rain would last for a week.
She didn't like rainy days because she always felt gloomy and uncomfortable. Moreover, her right eyelid kept on twitching when she woke up this morning. She got flustered, thinking that something was going to happen.
The driver pulled over at the gate of the hospital. It had been a long time since they stopped, but Rachel didn't move yet, so he called her attention. "Miss, we are already here."
It was only then that Rachel came back to her senses. She asked for the fare and took out some cash from her wallet. After handing it to the driver, she opened the door and held up her umbrella. Before she could close the door again, the driver looked back and said, "Miss, you are pregnant. Please be careful."
"Thank you."
With a smile at the corners of her mouth, Rachel slowly walked towards the hospital. She was about to step into her office when a sharp voice suddenly resounded behind her. She looked back and saw a woman trotting towards her. With a frown, she asked, "Why are you here?"
"I need to talk to you." Scarlett walked past her and entered her office ahead.
Rachel didn't stop her, as she also wanted to know what Scarlett had to say. As soon as she entered the office, Scarlett closed the door and said, "Rachel, I want you to stop bothering Jack. Just let him go and give him back to me."
Rachel frowned after hearing what she said. "I'm not bothering him. And I don't care whoever he wants to be with."
Obviously, Scarlett came all the way here just to talk about Jack. Unfortunately, this was the topic that Rachel didn't want to discuss.
So with an expressionless face, she went straight to her desk, sat on her chair, and said coldly, "Sorry, I have to work now. If you have nothing else to say, please leave."
